Just putting this out there. There is a group going out to the florence area to do martinez cabin, box canyon, and the coke ovens. 4x4 required but not an extreme trail. If interested the meet up is at a quick trip 3 blocks north of the us60 on country club drive at 8 30 am.

Speaking of a little shooting; Is the owner of the Coke Ovens still keeping his armed vigil out there keeping people away from his property?
It would suck to go all that way and not get to your ultimate destination.

More interesting when somebody is shooting back.:D

Good deal, the inside of the Coke Ovens are pretty interesting and with the ovens in the background some nice Tacoma Porn can be shot.

IIRC there is only one "shelf" that would be a challenge for a PreRunner with stock tires unless he was locked up. A 4x4 with any tires could do it just fine.

really? Because i just have some stock 245 radials and a rev tek lift on mine right now (don't laugh that's how i bought it). Went wheeling at Rolls and had some clearance issues on some holes. I'm just a little skeptical, but if you're confident that can make it then I might be down to join you guys provided I decide not to go racing that weekend.

even if you can't get up something due to lack of traction, we can always pull you up/out of whatever...I'm 4x4 and locked with some recovery gear.

I was looking at that trail the other night but I wasn't sure if anyone would want to go. Its in my book and has some pictures. It looks like a locked prerunner could do it. (but thats if you have an ok driver)

Wait you mean you aren't going to go and arrest us yourself? lol JK

So is this place a no no for off roading or something? I don't want to be doing anything illegal, I have future career aspirations to be thinking of :)

Not brand new, but looks like it and new to me. My 97 was scratched to shit and I was about to just rattle can the thing camo if I kept it. This one still looks nice and I want to keep it that way for a while. Eventually I'll be more than willing to scratch it up.

box canyon and martinez cabin wont be too bad on the scratches. Never done coke ovens so i dont know about that one. FYI the group that is putting this on is The Arizona Offroad Group. They have a website. Also this is not really a shooting group. Not saying dont bring your guns but Ive never seen anyone stop to pop off a few from this group.

I just looked around, but couldn't find a website with the group name The Arizona Off Road Group or any other combination that mentions this run.

Damion could you please provide a link the their website, I would like to check it out before I commit to going out with a group of guys I don't know.
