What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Where is this Bridgeport you speak of and what's the name of the area you're wheeling. I need to go there.

Where'd you purchase the aluminum oil housing? Directly from Toyota or online?

 

I honestly don't think It is at least in my state !
I haven't seen one besides mine since the thing went for sale

I think you can make out the part number in the picture.
If you are thinking of doing this, I would suggest you wait until I actually do the switch and confirm 100% that it is compatible with the one on the Tacoma.

 

Sounds good. Is the aluminum supposed to be better than the plastic? Excuse me for y ignorance.

 

I thought about taking mine off but then I got to thinking about pebbles hitting exposed metal and rust starting so I decided to leave mine on. Toyota put that piece of plastic down there for a reason other than improving fuel mileage.

 

The Off Road doesn't have it so it's there for gas mileage and looks , I think lol

I believe it's just the idea of strengthening a possible point of weakness. With constant heat cycle's everyday, and the force applied on the cap during oil changes during its life, having a metal one is just a safety net.

 

Probably not on the off road because Toyota figured it would get torn off, I think.

Most likely! As you say not all vehicles with those codes will exhibit the symptoms. Some do, some don't. And those who do and haven't read about it probably just figure that is normal.

 

My 2017 was built 11/16 and has one of the VIN codes. I thought about taking it in for the TSB, but I think I'm a gonna give it a chance. Maybe the computer will figure it all out, I dunno. Honestly it's not a big deal, I drive like a grandma in this weather anyway.

 

LED lows from xenondepot. The fogs are H11 yellow bulbs from nokyo.

 

Stay tuned. I bought the chrome inserts from south east Toyota and will make the inlays for them as soon as I have time.
