This same friend was very anti-Japanese when it came to vehicles... Before the "stinking up my Tacoma with his BO" fiasco, back in 2009,, my mom was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan, and we gave this ex-friend a ride home one night. He goes off on a rant about buying American. I tell him "If you have a problem with my van, you can either pay for a cab or walk." It shut him right up and he never made comments like that again. Respect the van!

It's funny, I tried explaining to them how a limited-slip differential worked, and it wound up being easier to simply show them in a college parking lot...

The picture is genuine... Just three family members having a good ol' time in a Tacoma...

Do you find that it causes strong OCD tendencies?

    Without a doubt...

OCD and anxiety are two big factors...

Sometimes it comes in handy... Those of us with Aspergers are very particularly about keeping our vehicles maintained for example...

People with Aspergers tend to have very strict morals, and when it comes to myself... Since I got a job as a "runner" at a bar, I've noticed that my boss and coworkers tend to overlook my other shortcomings when they realize how honest, trustworthy, and fiercely loyal I am...

Drawbacks include a tendency to over-analyze and dwell on things that "normal" people would not give two shits about.

Does it seem to change the older you get? Like des the OCD and over analyzing get worse or easier?

It definitely changes as you get older... For me it has gotten easier... For another friend with AS it has not improved and he is not as well-off as I am...

Me, that aforementioned friend, and like 4 of my other close friends with AS are in the top 10% when it comes to functioning in the real world. All but one of us has a driver's license, for example. Most of us have steady jobs, including the one who doesn't have a license yet. When it comes to myself and the 3 guys I'm friends with who have AS, we (including me) all have sexual/romantic experience and one of us (unfortunately not me) has a very pretty girlfriend. We go out to local bars and get drunk on weekends, go to concerts, go to car shows, and hit on cute girls. We are just like any other American guys in our late twenties and early thirties...

How many times did you proof read and edit this post speaking of OCD?

I half kid. I have the ocd, but its not bad cept for locked doors, and the stove, i have the gf lockup so i dont waste 45min of my life. Sure they are safety things, but my god its frustrating.

Im curious..... does lexapro help at all?
Only ask because i used to take it for other reasons and wondering if it could help kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

I have a friend of the family with AS and Apple called his house when he was 14 and offered him a great job when he was able to work.

You might reach out. So far as I understand, they seek individuals out with AS for recruiting.

    And yes, I'm serious.
