Proofread-none, but I did rewrite it a bit...

Living in a huge subdivision with energetic kids and parents who neglect to teach them common sense about not walking behind a moving vehicle is a primary reason I installed a backup camera in my Tacoma...

One of the cooks at the bar/restaurant where I work is a 19-year female college student. She is an amazing young woman and one of the smartest people I've ever met. Unlike me, she does not have AS. She lived in the city her whole life and didn't have a need to drive when she turned 16. Now goes to college and has a job in the suburbs, she need a driver's license, and at the end of 2016 she earned one....

My attitude was "If you can parallel park a Tacoma, you can parallel park any vehicle under 10,000 pounds"...

She passed her driver's license test in her mom's Camry on the first try...

I gave my friend lessons in like November 2016...

She was unaware that one needed to get a learner's permit in Pennsylvania, and got pretty much all the lessons she needed in 2015-2016. Somehow she didn't get pulled over. I took her to the DMV for her written permit test in October 2015 for the second time and she passed, then I was crazy enough to pull into a Wawa parking lot and let her drive my truck from Wawa to Puck... The things I do for my friends...

I took the road test in the very same Tacoma I taught her in back in 2011, and failed the first time because I couldn't parallel park, and now I can parallel park like a boss...

I do this as well...double check locked doors and stuff like that. Was worst when I was younger, then I stopped caring as much. Sometimes my double and tripple checking things crops up though.

I have a few friends with AS, and as of 2017 only one does NOT have a driver's license yet...

Do not let that fool you. This friend with no license has a job, and my non-AS friends love him. At 28, he is finally studying for his learner's permit, and I have vowed to take him to the DMV and show him how to parallel park so he passes the test on the first try.

God help me... I have Asperger's Syndrome and and I am fiercely protective of my Tacoma. I already gave a 19-year old non-AS female coworker driving lessons in my truck, and now I'm gonna be giving a friend who does have AS driving lessons... Either I'm a great friend or totally crazy... Probably a combination of both?

You mentioned in a previous post that they changed the classification of AS recently. What did you mean by this? I meant to ask back then but got sidetracked.

Something beyond the ability of your average joe? Could a person without AS attain similar levels of concentration and smartness? lol

Ive been around a few people with AS while taking some psych classes.... its a different world.
The information retention can be astounding.

Some just see, hear, feel and taste things in a way most people cannot even fathom. You just have to spend some time around it. Im not joking either, textures can be a major game changer in touch and even with food for some.

Its hard to explain..... rlly its just a totally different level of processing things.

Some people can be trained or have a natural tendency to do something well, and that can be honed and crafted into a different level of expertise.

People with AS have those as natural abilities, it's almost immediate. They're super dedicated, focused and detail oriented. Pretty much the ultimate worker.

What they have in amazing brain power they often lack somewhere else. My fiancées aunt, I would bet money, has high functioning AS. She is a now retired public health nurse and incredibly intelligent - but she can't do a fucking thing else. Socially awkward even in late 60s, can't keep her home clean, can't cook, has no clue how to read people, and the only things she can really hold conversations about are medical related things, dogs or traveling. Outside of that and it's like talking to a 10 year old. She drives as good as a 10 year old also.

She/they kinda get it, but not really.

Also sometimes very sensitive hearing.... things that no, you cannot train anyone to have.
Its hindering sometimes around groups, and crowded places.
