Manual or Auto?!?!?!?!?!? Going to buy soon!

I'm going to purchase a Tacoma soon and I don't know if I should get a Automatic or a Manual.

For sure its going to be the V6 TRD model but should I get a Auto or Manual?

I plan to Daily drive this monster and keep it stock(maybe bigger tires and wheels).

I've test drove both and will, I like the Manual ones better because they're fun to drive and give more push to the truck but if I think about it in the long run, I would rather have a Automatic due to traffic, long trips, maybe a wife soon who cant drive stick, and I maybe getting old soon in the next 10 years. haha

Another thing is, I've never owned a Manual Car/Truck but have driven so many. I have always wanted one but my parents never let me buy one so now I'm finally old enough to tell them to stick it up and have own money to buy something that I would like and love to have.

So to all of you who own a Manual Tacoma, do you regret getting it rather then a auto?!?!

Welcome to the site dude, take it from a manual driver get the Auto. I don't regret anything about my truck, but if I could have gotten the Auto I would have. It's better for wheeling and WAY (can't stress that enough) easier to drive in traffic.

 

Does the standard transmission come available with cruise control ? I know some makes offer CC in their standards.

 

I'm in a similar situation. I'm trying to decide between manual and auto, but I'm leaning toward manual, because of the increased fuel efficiency, keeps you focused on the road, and less likely to be stolen. I might end up regretting that decision. I don't know yet. Let me know what you choose.

 

Drive my manual every day in town and out... No regrets. It is such a fun ride, especially once you take it off road.

 

I made the switch from Manual (car) to Auto when I bought the tacoma. IMHO, standards are for fast sports cars ie weekend toys. auto's are for everyday vehicles.

Sitting in bumper to bumper with a standard is about as fun as putting it in neutral, getting out and pushing.

 

The auto gets better MPG's than the manual

Really? I guess I was misinformed.

 

i've got a manual and don't regret for a second. even in stop-and-go traffic, it's fine (i just put it in second and hang way back). plus i like having that extra amount of control of throttle/braking. my first 3 vehicles (parents' cars) were auto, but ever since i've been buying my own: manual all the way!

also, as a bonus for the manual if you have that kind-of annoying neighbor/friend/acquaintance who always begs to drive your truck, it's much easier to point to the shifter and say something along the lines of "no synchro between 2nd and 3rd...". works every time.

 

Manual gets less MPG than the auto...i'm not really sure why Toyota made this truck in a 6 spd if it gets a 1-2mpgs less.

Seems like it would be easier to just tell the annoying neighbor/friend/acquaintance that you would prefer they not drive your truck then to lie about it...just me I guess...

Yes... you can get CC in a standard. also fyi 6th gear can handle any hill on the interstate in WY and UT area. not much downshifting, unless you want some power.

 

Sorry for the mix up. Well, if you have a manual and your battery dies, you can just keep it in gear and push it. Another benefit.

 

manuel, its more fun and just fits a truck better

I drove both before I got my truck. If the taco wasn't a daily driver I would of gotten a shift. Glad I got an Auto. The manual needs to be shifted a lot. first gear is way to short.
