Yeah, it was a tough call going with all inside storage. It's still not too late for me to add outside lower access doors where the bedsides would be. I decided to keep everything inside for security. Not sure it was the right call, but I'm trying to stick to at least part of the plan with my evolving build.

Security mainly for 3rd world South American countries in +/- 5 years. Whether the camper is on this truck, or a turd gen diesel... the trip is going to happen. :fingerscrossed:

Well my wife just heard from our neighbor that they might be closing the one road in/out of our neighborhood tonight, essentially locking us in/out. The road is fine, but I think it's a precautionary measure for the rain that's about to come. Off to the store I go to stock up and buy a couple bottles of whiskey and beer to help me survive being stuck at home with the wife and kids. :annoyed:

    18/32 = 0 miles
    13/32 = 12k miles
    8/32 = 24k miles
3/32 = 36k miles and probably looking for new tires at this point.
I don't see them lasting until 55k but time will tell.

Good call, just wish I had got new rotors for the Tundra so I could replace the brakes while being stuck.

The diesel part? Frame is the same and the Tacoma is supposed to have a diesel in 2018. Flatbed would swap over. So would my suspension. If I went that route, it wouldn't happen until 2020 or 2021. Then I'd probably buy a 2019.

@Iggy looked into a diesel swap for 2nd gens. Would cost around $20k.

I was basing it off starting at 17/32 since most tires don't actually measure exactly their advertised depth. Also the middle was 14 but sides 13, so took the 14. Regardless, if I don't get the full 55k I will be getting back a portion of my purchase price which was only $540 after all the rebates. Not going to complain much, but I also have the highest tread depth to start, so I don't notice the wear as much.

Yeah I love them and will run them no problem again. If they wear early just brings the cheap price lower for a great tire.

Ha! We were actually going to do a diesel swap on my Scout back in 2007. Wife and I were planning to do a South American trip in 2010. Then the economy tanked, we bought a house...and had kids.

The dream is still alive. Take 3 months off of work, save up enough to cover bills and mortgage payments, $20k for the trip, and have the truck shipped to Ecuador. Drive to Tierra Del Fuego, and back up through Brazil. Then ship the truck back. Probably around $35k. Others have done the same and spent $20k/ year on the road, so the $20k in 3 months would be living pretty fat.

I don't have skillz for that with modern electronics. Or the time. Turd gen with a diesel it is! As long as they offer a 6-speed.
