I'm very happy with my truck, and haven't had one problem so far except for a burned out tail light bulb.
The only complaint I have is the truck follows the ruts in the road. If I'm driving close to the center line and take my hand off the wheel the truck veers left, and when driving close to the shoulder it goes to the right. Another thing that only happens once in a while is when applying the brake the steering wheel abruptly moves left or right. Since the truck was new it's had the alignment done twice. The lift is a 1' spacer up front with a AAL in the back which amounts to a 2" lift height. Any ideas? Anybody else experiencing this?

    Hm.
I doubt this will cause your problems, but how are your tires.
And when you had the alignment done was it with in spec.

Sounds like your caster is off to me. your truck can be "in spec." and still not have the amount of caster that you would need to remedy this. either take the spacer out or get some new upper control arms.

Tires are the rugged trails that came on the truck when new...only 12,000 miles so far. Pressure at around 32psi. Before the latest alignment I took it into the dealer, had a tech drive the truck, and they pretty much said it was normal due to the ruts around here from tire chains. Funny thing is no other cars that I've driven around here do this on these roads. The truck tracks straight though on newly laid asphalt with no ruts. I read once here a while back that there was a known problem with the proportional valve in the power steering with some of these trucks. Anyone know about this? Was there ever a tsb on it?
The latest alignment sheet shows everything within spec and wasn't done at the dealer...was done by a credible shop the offroad guys use here. The caster ended up 1.8 and 1.9...front cross caster-0.1 The camber is .7 and .6... front cross camber 0.2 The toe ended up 0.04 on both sides. Total toe front was 0.08
It just seems I'm constantly fighting the steering wheel going down the road. Also, I've never driven a vehicle that somtimes pulls the steering wheel when the brake is applied (which of coarse can't be duplicated by Toyota since it doesn't always happen)

that's about what my caster is at, and i have a 2.5 in lift. i think 2.4-2.8 range is ideal, and would probably eleminate your problem

What was the amount of caster you needed to remedy the problem, and how much lift to you have up front?
