Hey guys and gals, I'm wanting to upgrade from my 31s to 33s. The plan is to lift the front 2.5" with adjustable front struts and to put a 1" block in the back. The tire size I want to go is 33/12.5/R20. What do y'all think of this? Will I have to regear, how much mileage would I lose, etc etc. All help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm no expert on lifts but what I have read on here is if you want to run 33's you might have to go to 3 inches in the front. Then you will need new aftermarket UCA's to get you alignment back within spec. Most people in here will tell you not to run blocks due to axle wrap but instead at a minimum install a leaf to your current leaf pack. It will do you some good to search the forum on all of the various lifts and determine what will work best for your needs. Good luck with lift.

    Hey Sam,

If you're set on 33s, consider something tall and skinny. I recently went with 255/85 R16s, which is essentially a 33" tire. With your 20" rims, is there a skinnier option? Reason being, you'll likely have to do a cab mount chop, larger lift, trim inside fenders, remove mud flaps, etc., if you install a large and wide tire.

With my 33s, no regear required, but I did lose some power. Not sure yet about milage, but I already was getting crappy milage due to lift, some armor, etc.

I have a 3" level on my truck with 33x12.5xr17 and have been very happy with them. I didn't need to trim at all and I haven't regeared yet. I really have been satisfied with the way it drives and hauls so I haven't looked into re-gearing it. I lost 3 mpgs after it was all said and done. I think you will be very happy with 33s. Just get the proper offset on your wheel so you don't have to cut into it so much.

Anything wider than 10.5 or pushed out further than stock wheels will need a cab mount chop if you actually drive your truck. Fenders will likely need trimming too.

I'm on 33 now. Will go to 35 soon. No regear needed for 33. Truck is lifted 2.5 inches and I was able to clear 33 with 4.5 backspaced wheels.

Not all 33s are created equal. I am also on 33s on stock gears. If you keep them inside the wheel well, you're good to go.

Very true. I'm running BF Goodrich MT now but have ran nitros Terra grapplers which I think was a tad smaller and Toyo MT which were the same size as the BF

    Anyone seen my wallet?
Ive been thinkin of 285/75/17 or 33x12.50r17 and have same wheel specs

Did you at least do cmc? I having a hard time seeing how i can stuff a 12.50 in without some type of trimming. Those tires clear your uca's?

    Got more pics?

We need to know how you use your truck. If you plan on going off road, then some trimming will be required. If shes a pavement princess, you may be ok.

I went with 255/80/17 tires, which are essentially 33's with 4.5 bs wheels and no lift. I realigned my truck (2* positive caster) + minor bumper and liner trimming at the bottom front corner. I drove up on a single cinder block...turning my wheel back and forth to check clearance on both sides. So far im in the clear.

I don't have any good ones ATM but I'll take some after I get off work. I did not do the cmc and I had to take about a 1/4" off of the lip on the bottom of the flare towards the door. But other than that it doesn't rub. I mainly drive it on the road but during hunting season it spends most of its time off road. And yes it does clear the uca's

My 255s rubbed the stock UCAS, but it didn't bother me. I replaced them with the Light Racing UCAs for alignment purposes. No more rubbing.
