Hello guys. I recently sold my first gen and bought a 2008 trd sport. It has a cracked leaf on the drivers side leaf pack. I tow trailers from time to time that rarely exceed 2200 lbs and I'm looking at the 2 springs mentioned In the heading. My truck is stock. The general hd springs will cost me about $70 less than the wheelers, but don't include u bolts. I've read a lot on this and I'm still unsure which I should get. My truck has a cap and the stock blistein shocks. I was advised I would need different shocks with the wheelers. Do you think one is better than the other? If I go wheelers I could remove one leaf and probably use my stock shocks. My truck is a daily driver and sees light off-road use (hunting and camping). Sorry to ask this as I know leaf springs are covered a lot. I'd appreciate your insight

What are the cost of these springs? Do they add lift?

Wheelers are $499 with bushings and u bolts, generals are $380 before shipping, 480 after with shipping and no u bolts. My truck has 70k miles on it. Shocks feel ok. It could use replacing soon I guess. Wheelers give 2" of lift with 5 leafs, 1.5" with 4. Generals give 1.5" or so from what I've read.

    Some stuff...
Have you considered Dakars? I dunno about pricing for rear leaf packs alone, but I bought my leafs with my lift setup and saved a bit. I can't recall but I thought one of the vendors was offering Dakars with free or discounted shipping here recently (unless that was a group buy). But... I think you'd need new rear shocks with the Dakars if I'm not mistaken - my Icons mid-travels had to be built (internal valving) specifically for my Dakar setup.

if you want an utterly stiff ride or constantly have 500Lbs in the bed of your truck then yeah dakars are your option, also from a saggy or 2+1 leaf pack your looking at 4+ in of lift with the dakars.

Believe me my buddies truck with dakars rides stiffer than our old chevy 2500hd 1ton truck.

I don't want to go that high. I'm trying to avoid any vibrations in the driveline. I was thinking about possibly going wheelers hd, ome 884, billy 5100's all around set at 0. This would give me approx 2" all around. What are the odds I would have driveline vibes. 50/50? Also, are the bilstein still a good shock for the ome springs?

might have some small vibes around 5mph or so. shimming the carrier bearing down about 3/8ths to 1/2in with some washers usually solves this.

I dont have any experience with General Spring, but I looked at the HD set and they looked like a decent set.

I'm going with the Wheelers when its time to replace mine though just based on how helpful they were when I ordered my billies and aal. They answered any question I had right away, and I've heard good things about their products and service on TW. :)

You end up getting that hd set by chance? Trying to get some more insight on it but not finding much. Thanks either way

No, I went with the 2" AAL from Wheelers. They were really helpful every time I contacted them. If I had it to do again though, I'd get the Dakar's and call it a day. I got new leafs with the spring replacement, so I'll probably leave them and the AAL alone for awile.

5100's all around with OME 884 at 0. Weathertechs, Carhartt seat covers. BFG KO2's 265/70/17. T4R SEMA wheels. 18% tint on front windows. General Springs HD 4 leaf pack, Leer 100 XR shell.
I put the General HD set on mine. I needed more strength in the back after putting my shell on. Got 1.5" of lift with shell on and my truck rides fine. I went with this set because the wheelers were a couple hundred more at the time and I dont really offroad or need anything technical, just wanted a permanent fix in the back that an AAL didnt provide

New leafs? So you're saying new oem replacement with the aal. Is that correct

I put a new general springs HD leaf pack on instead off the OEM with an add a leaf. Reading from others here that would just be a bandaid and not a fix for my sagging rear. They were a good buy for my application
