C'mon now... These guys and bassets - could loosely tie their ears over their head and they don't blink. How do you keep those ears out of the food?

A head sock if she's getting into something nasty. We have a small enough bowl that her hears usually stay on the outside.
She steps on them all the time when she's tracking.

Hopefully everything turns out ok. I can't even imagine something like that happening to Tony! I'd be very scared. My thoughts are with you.

Hope she is well too! If you haven't seen them, you can try a soft "cone of shame" Made of fabric it doesn't restrict the poor dog running around the house and is a lot more comfortable for them. Here's one from Petco but you can get them from Amazon or most anywhere

mine wasn't bad at all when we lived in town, probably because of our Pit, he's really laid back. But soon as we moved out to the outskirts were rarely anyone goes by our house she did a 180.

Here's the newest member to my family. She's a 5 week old basset hound. 3 more weeks until I bring her home and I can't wait. Thinking up names now, but I think Daisy Mae is the current favorite.

have you had a basset before? they MUST be *seriously* leash trained, and virtually NEVER allowed to run free, except in a very securely fenced yard. they are escape artists and when they follow a scent trail, you can call 'til you're hoarse. sweetest dogs, but mischievous.

I have had dachshunds just like that lol. Current one named Ruby is the worst. She catches a scent and is gone. Definitely hard to house break and train, but I think I'm up to the task.
