    I installed my shift knob today.

    First, the install - specifically - removing the chrome plastic piece on the 3rd gen is not as difficult as I thought.

    1) hold the chrome piece and twist the shift knob counter clockwise. Eventually this will pull the knob out of the tabs in the chrome piece, releasing the knob.
    2) I simply took my sharpest knife and pried away the leather from the chrome piece. It stretches out quickly and easily and nothing need to be cut - slides right off.
    3) unfold the top of the shift boot and tape just below the jam nuts.
    4) install knob and smile.

    Hey Adam,

    Im interested in getting a short automatic knob. But first a few questions.

    1) on ur website for the short automatic, what color is the knob in the pics 2nd from last and the last one also.
    2) any other colors available for the screws? Like gun metal or anthracite?
    3) and lastly, besides the two options of engraving, are u going to offer a taco engraving or any other design?

    Thanks for ur time in answering these questions. I would like to take advantage of the sale u have going on right now, but I will hold off if these options become available in the very near future.

    Hey Joe,

    Those last pics are matte black. The shiner ones are machined black. The attached pic shows the difference of the matte and machined with the matte on the left.

    Just the 4 colors for screws. They are easily removable if you wanted to try painting them a specific color.

    Yes I will probably run some more Taco engraved knobs next time. This will be a few months out and the sale will be over. I do have a blank option that looks pretty sharp if you don't want to do the TRD.

    Let me know if you have any more questions.
