I'm guessing you didn't read the article, that one wasn't Harrison Ford but an American Eagle jet hit a deer "shortly after takeoff"

This is my local airport I have taken lessons out of and I have friends who witnessed it. He was told to land on 20L but landed on the taxi way next to the terminal. Runways 2R and 2L are only used during Santa Ana Winds which we were not having at the time, so other side of the field from where you indicated. There wouldn't be a 737 for him to fly over on that side as that side is general aviation only.

Just watched ... "City In The Sky" ... on PBS TV ... very interesting program that you guys would like .... i.e. 100,000 flights a day worldwide and 1 million people in the air, worldwide at anytime, was their opening statements.

This was: 2/15/17, S1, Ep.2, Part 2 - "Exploring what it takes to keep the city in the sky safe between take-off and land"

This was excellent and you can get the whole program series on CD from PBS.

That is the wrong side of the airport. They were landing on 20L & 20R, which the norm there. If it was any other pilot flying, it wouldn't even make the 5 o'clock news there. In addition to the fact that nothing in the regulations says that you have to land on a runway, but that he deviated from his landing clearance. Minor infraction, and if he files a NASA/ASRS form, it should be no big deal.

That's why flying helicopters is awesome. I don't remember the last time I landed to a runway.

I know what you mean, seaplane pilot here. Shoot, I've landed in a crowded harbor, and then taxied through moored sailboats to a beach and then thrown an anchor. No runway involved. There is a reason the "must land on a runway" reg doesn't exist. In addition to rotorcraft & seaplane, think about gliders, hot air balloons, bush flying, powered-parachutes, and many other operations that don't always utilize a runway. Or at least a runway in a traditional sense. People often get caught up in their style of flying, and disregard everything else as dangerous or non-existent. Sometimes you have to think outside the box.

Anyone hear about the Frontier and Southwest that clipped wings at Sky Harbor yesterday? A320 and 737, sounds like the southwest was taxiing down charlie and the frontier pushback crew didn't give way to them. Winglet damage on both, little bit of a fuel spill, then about 3 medical calls came out at the same time of course. So glad I was training that day and not at work  http://www.abc15.com/news/region-so...ation-airport-in-phoenix-no-injuries-reported

That's no good! Assuming from your post that Frontier is at fault here?

That's what it sounds like, I'm sure they will investigate to see if tower was at fault or what. Southwest just landed and was taxiing back to terminal 4, my guess is tower cleared frontier for pushback but to give way to southwest, I'll get the info tonight when I'm back at Ops
