I want to watch Metallica play everything before the black album. Back then, they were awesome.

    Hey everyone, quick question.

I'm going to be moving back to southwest Alabama (Clarke County to be exact) in the next couple weeks after I finish my checkout process with the Marine Corps. From there, I'll be going to Kuwait for a contractor job for a little while. While I am over there, I plan on getting the funds together to swap 4.88 gears into my truck. Is there any good shops in the southwest region that does this kind of work that someone could recommend? If not, where would you recommend me taking it to get it done?

Thank you for your service! Maybe Mobile has a shop or two? Isn't there somebody in Mobile that post in here? All you northern guys flood this thread :stirthepot:
I'll ask a buddy that lives in Silverhill. Maybe he knows of somewhere.

I appreciate it man. I did a quick google search, and all I saw was basic suspension and wheel/tire shops for GM, Ford, and Ram. Down here is 3/4 ton country, so it doesn't surprise me that not much is coming up.

I don't mind driving a reasonable distance either. Only problem is that when you break in gears, the first 500 miles needs to be in short, easy intervals. Get too far away and it becomes a PITA to try to get back home once the gear swap is done.

Yeah I know, surely there is a shop down south that could do it.

understandable. when it comes to gears in my truck though, a reputation like theirs may be worth a drive and then take time breaking in on the way back.

I'm sure there's plenty that could "do it" but I don't want to have to revisit them when the rear end locks up on me because they screwed up LOL

Steve's Off-Road and Truckin Up are really the only two places in mobile that would do something like that.

But that's only if you want shitty service (Steve's) or agree to let them put rockstars and a 8" body lift on as well (Truckin Up).
