Hm - I didn't think of the vatozone ones... Anything I buy is going to be painted black with caliper paint. I hate rusted calipers and I have enough caliper paint in my basement from forgotten projects to last me a lifetime...

 

I ran them on my taco for like 60k miles and never had a problem with them. If you painted them then I'm sure they'd look a lot better. Mine rusted pretty quick but were otherwise fine.

Drywall I'd say do blow-in unless you want to rehang the sheetrock anyways. I found barnboard beneath the drywall and paneling in my kitchen and no way was I ripping that apart.

 

We'll see how it goes. Have to wait and see what kind of "damage" the spray foam would make on my wallet first...

 

True and I'd do that one first since heat rises if you have to choose. THat said the machine is a cheap rental for blow-in, think it cost me $150 for the rental and supplies etc.

 

My calipers were fine when I did mine. I just went with OEM pads and rotors. Adjusting the rear brakes correctly has the biggest effect on performance and brake feel in my experience.

The garage itself doesn't look bad. It has shelves that the guy hung up before me, and overall looks OK.

 

I'd say to use the pink stuff too. You never know when you might have to run a wire or access the floor. That said, spray foam is night and day different from the pink stuff.

My tool for that bushing is floating around New England. I think Tony has it. You can borrow it after he is done if you want. Just mail it back to me when you're done.

 

I actually have one I think - I overnighted it plus the bushing when I thought I busted my axle... turns out I was able to save it and have yet to install it..... Appreciate the offer!

 

There are a few things you can do, the absolute worst of them all is to pull over and shut off the engine. If temps just climb a few degrees, keep going. If they really shoot up, you should know what the safe operating temperature of your fluid is. My Ford, it's around 230, so if I see temps climbing over 220, I start to back off the skinny pedal. You want to try to keep the torque convertor locked as the torque convertor slipping generates a lot of heat. Slow down so the engine can settle in, keeping the torque convertor locked but maintaining air flow so the fluid cools down. If it gets really hot and is not cooling at all, pull over and let the truck idle and cool off.

Firearms aren't a bad investment, they tend not to depreciate a whole lot.

Spray foam is a great option and I would highly recommend it. I would also recommend doing it yourself and saving a butt load of money. Check out Foam it Green, the stuff works really well. The overall R value per inch of spray foam vs. traditional fiberglass insulation is fairly close however, spray foam is very expensive. The difference is, spray foam does a much better job of stopping drafts than fiberglass. If you get a quote from a spray foam guy, he's going to quote 4-6" of spray foam and it's generally a lot of money. What you do is, buy one of the DIY kits, spray an inch to get the air barrier benefit, then put fiberglass insulation over it to get the overall R value at a much lower price.

I guess I'll see how much the dude will charge me, depending on whether or not he can do it on the side versus having to go through his company because of the area that needs to be covered. At least that's the way he explained and/or I understood it.

Seconded. Not planning to go that way but just in case..another plus is if down the road you want to run wires you're good to go.

$100 fine? That's it? That's the saddest part of the story. The guy probably pulled a Constanza upon returning to his car and seeing crowds of people, the fire dept, police, etc, etc, etc.

 

I've never managed to get a windshield changed without having vehicle damage. Today was no different. I'm unamused. They took photos and sent it up the chain. Hopefully I don't have to blow up social media about it. I've got a pile of scratches on my fender, a metal chip down to primer on the A-pillar and a few light scratches on my hood.
