    False. As far as metric tire sizes: width in mm/%of width (aspect ratio)R (radial) then rim size. So..... a 265/75R16 will be taller than a 245/75R16

    Don't know who made up that math, but they were high. Greater width of a 265 over a 245 should not, ever affect a tire's height. Ever.

    the 265 or 245 isn't strictly width of a tire. The first and second number is a ratio, not strictly height and width if that's what you're meaning.

    Yeah I don't exactly remember the true calculation of the ratio but in a sense, the first number is more width, but not exactly. If that makes total sense lol.

    I'll say it again.

    Width/aspect ratio R (stands for radial) rim size. Example: 285/75R16

    285 is the tire width, 75 means 75% of the tire width makes the sidewall height, radial tire on a 16" rim.
