I think i'm going to stray away from duratracs this next time around... i know this group has had their fair share of woes with tires, i'd ask for recommendations but more importantly which are the ones to avoid?

 

ko2s are ATs, surprised to hear thats what you run actually

 

I run the ko2 too. Two trucks ran them into and out of Shoshone lake (rocky ass trail) this summer with no issues.

I'm going to give the STT Pros a shot. Monte seems to like his Maxx's for what they are.

 

I ran duratracs back when i had my tacoma and loved them. Just put another set on my work truck.

I will be very interested to hear a report on these. They look very interesting. There sizing is a bit limited tho. No 255/85r16 or 255/80r17 IIRC.

 

Tires do not get holes in the sidewall by themselves. They are caused by being pinched. By rubbing up against a sharp rock surface. Typically, this is a poor choice of lines.

I was not present when Monte did his on Christina, nor with yours in Moab but I've been present with all of the others. Timmys have all been caused by striking a sharp rock. On the one is Canada both Monte and I went thru the same spot without damaging a tire but we could have easily as the spot was very narrow with a prominant point to navigate around and I did have rub marks on my RR after going thru that spot.

It is an urban legend that these BFGs magically tear a chunk outa there sidewall. It is false to say it is a shortcoming of the BFG sidewall design. Stories like this are perpetuated by driver ego that hates to admit they may have caused it by their line choice.

 

So guys, since i know i can get some interesting opinions from you all. If you could have one car for "fun" what would it be?

Ideally drive it for enjoyment on weekends, occasionally to work, in Colorado. Possible considerations would be still be able to use it for roadtrips or trips to the park with dog or grocery store.

Obviously the ones that come to mind are wrx/sti, golf r, and maybe a focus rs, or audi s4(imo) but what others come to mind.

 

High if i can afford it. Though you may have to fight josh for them haha that is if he ever makes up his mind on wtf he is doing with his truck...

Id sell them cheap as they are find now. But when they will need rebuilt again, they will need new heims and one will need a new shaft probably.

yea but thats a WAY bigger shock then our front shocks. Almost twice the length and a resi.
