Is cleaning it really well and just priming it an option? I'm looking at doing this soon myself.

Tried that last time, it lasted a month. Then peeled off when i sprayed at bug carcases(spellcheck?) So i figured i would get the shiny off and paint the core material, the orbital sander and 220 grit aint workin well.

It's not the vast majority you need to be concerned about.

People have had good luck taking the chrome plastic parts and letting it sit in bleach until the chrome comes off.

Not sure I've heard of anybody doing a grill, but it's proven to work on smaller pieces. Probably cost you a few bucks for a large enough container and bleach to fill it.. but something to consider.

    Linky linky.

People in this thread have mentioned oven cleaner being great also, available at your favorite Dollar Store.

Two things: I should get a back up camera. I should also get a steel rear bumper.

Thanks ill give it a try, i wore through the chrome and it has a low spot now. Im thinking im ready to buy a white surround. 50 bucks to paint it the first time and now 30 dollar HF orbital sander. Half way to a grill already.

Never tried it, but haven't ever read anything about the plastic being effected. The linked thread even says the primer/sealer on the plastic itself was unharmed and just the chrome was removed.

Sanding leaves a ton of high and low spots, so assume anytime you sand plastic, you'll be adding some kind of filler to level out the surface prior to paint.

Just got my headlights in. Light is much more contained, clean cut off, and looks great. Ill update later with night shots, if its not pouring out.

I just joined the anti-swaybar club. I've been debating yanking the swaybar off for months and finally got a break in the weather with sunshine and 50 degrees. First impression: Wow, what a difference in ride quality! The front end just feels smoother, and I don't even notice the suspension moving when I hit a bump at an angle, like when pulling into a driveway with a lip. The truck used to rock side to side but now it just flexes the suspension and not the body. Increased front end roll? Yup. But definitely not a deal breaker. I have OME 886 with no front armor so it works out nicely. I have not tested off-road flex yet.
