I keep asking myself why Toyota hasn't installed a hood insulator on the Tacoma, think it would be a good idea to make the hood last longer and stay cleaner underneath.

Cleaner? Maybe in appearance. I don't need insulation on my hood, and I'd rather be able to wash it and get the shit off of it than have it just accumulate in something that can't be easily or effectively cleaned and serves little purpose for my needs.

If you want it, add it.

It adds to production cost & people buy them without it anyway.

Really? How in the world would a big sheet of filthy matted material make the hood last longer?
Cleaner? No, just absorbed into a fabric that can't be cleaned.

I don't own a vehicle currently that has under-hood insulation. It is added for noise reduction, fewer and fewer vehicles have it these days.

if you live in the northeast and get all that salt and shit under the hood it would stay off of the metal part of the underneath of the hood and cause less rot.

Your frame will rot out a lot faster than your hood will.

What about when the insulation traps salt and moisture behind it that can't be seen or removed, and your hood rots under your own nose because you can't see any of it from underneath?

Yo Bro.. was reading the title to this thread and thought I'd come and find an IRATE MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE TACOMA OWNER.

My hood it too heavy and way to high up for me to even notice I didn't have one. I'm glad I don't ... probably make my engine compartment too hot in the hot weather... just an idea!

Yeah see OP... no one even notices. I didn't even think about it til this thread. So cost savings right there and most people didn't even notice!

Keeps your engine warm in the winter time so you don't need to mess up your electrical system with a aftermarket remote start... installed by dealership!

Its mostly there as a sound and heat insulator in vehicles, my guess is cost savings for why there is not any on our Tacomas.

I don't know how they are worried about cost savings when these trucks cost an arm and a leg to buy already.

They're not buying the trucks, they're making them. So cost savings on their end = cost savings on yours, too.

Cause in Merica is about "profits" bro.. profits.. and more profits...

The first 3 reasons for getting rid of stuff not actually noticed by consumers.
