Looking at tires for a stock 17 OR.

265/75/16 bfg at or cooper maxx

Looking for a decent hwy ride, snow traction, tread life and good off road.

Not to concerned about mpg or road noise.

How is discount tire's warranty, does it cover ANY tire damage?

It does. It's the only one I know of that audio covers damage incurred while wheeling

They replace the tire if it's not repairable. I've already used the warrantee twice. First time they took my word for it. Second time I had to go to a tire shop and call from there.

At $280 a pop for 315/75/16 Coopers? I'm really glad I bought the ins...

I told the sales guy when I bought the tires that I wheel and that's why I wanted the ins. He said it's not a problem and it hasn't been. I even admitted that I was on a very rocky trail when the damage happened.

Is a load range E1 too heavy in a 265/75/16 size on stock truck?

Didn't see bfgs or coopers in any other range on discount tire.

If you're not too concerned about MPG, then no.

BFG KM2s come in other load ratings. The ones on my Wife's XJ are C's. my Coopers are E's

Would be more concerned about power loss. If that's not an issue I'll take the extra protection.

Which tire do you like better as far as off-road and snow.

It was so much easier when the choices were bfg MT or bfg AT.

Cooper St Maxx is a great tire. Great in snow, rain, rocks.
Best tire I have used in years.

I'd say in the same size and same weight rating, you won't notice much difference between the two. I love my Maxx's but my KM2's performed really well at RC too.

They seem popular there must be a reason. Was only looking at BFGs because I had them on my Tundra and they weren't bad on the road. The maxx looks like it has a bit more open tread so wasn't sure about road manners.

Is Greybeard a Lord of the rings reference?

Road manners are great. They're not even noisy.
