    coming from an electrician view point, when we do battery systems for UPS all cables must be the same length. It's even code for Canada and I'd imagine the US as well.

    Electricity will always take path of least resistance, if you have the battery separate you could end up picking up the negative off your starting battery instead of the Aux battery.
    Matt I agree with you, could be debatable but to me it should have its own cable.

    Just finished installing my split kit...WOW....not often is something once you have it turn out to be what you thought you ordered....Great kit, very hi quality material....easy to install...everything fit as it should, wires were long enough to fit up nice.....really very sweet.

    I installed the monitor control switch in the open pocket on the right side of the steering column in the back ...easy material to cut and work with, switch snapped in perfect, lots of room to run the wire harness inside the dash......its recessed far enough back to dim the LED shine, easy to reach etc......

    It's tight but all I do is remove the plastic engine cover. I do have to remove a battery to replace headlights, though.

    What's your rational for this?

    My feeling is that using the frame is generally fine, it's a better conductor than any cable so your drop will be lower than a long run of even 1/0. Just take your time, practice good workmanship and make sure you don't have a sneak path.

    Internet opinions might include people who have unibody cars. Finding a good ground outside of the engine bay on those might not be as simple as we have it with body-on-frame trucks.

    I installed my kit today and like everyone else had no problems. It's a well made and thought out product that is pretty much plug and play.

    My rational was absolute equality on resistance.... but what you say makes total sense and I completely agree. If I remember correctly @DaveInDenver you are an electrical engineer, so I suppose we can trust you ;)

    Looking good. The trays have also been narrowed by a half inch since the early rendition. The tie downs have also been made a bit thicker. The narrower base plate will only make oil filter access easier.

    I want to install one of these in my 2010 regular cab 2.7L, for the sole purpose of running two Cobra dashcams without using the key or killing my primary battery. I work at a bar and I want to have video evidence to sue for damages if any drunks damage my truck, intentionally or unintentionally.
