We get our rice offloaded by a dump truck by the sq. yard.
    It's cheaper that way.

Wife must not really be an Asian woman. She would be using more colorful language than "Dick" and be beating you with big stick.

It pisses me off because.. It started out with me walking in and one of them said leave now or your next and a bunch of macho shit. Two of them got caught by bouncer type guys who saved my behind but the others said they didn't do anything and they all claimed they where helping her because she was going to get sick (yeah it takes six guys to take a 90lb chick to the bathroom). They kicked us all out.. She couldnt even speak to say one thing or another and stumbled off with her friends. (Where were they?)

Dudes like that just prey on young women!

I posted a oem front bumper on the boston craigslist and got 5 emails from different people with the same last name and different phone numbers - all refused to communicate via email and wanted to deal through cell phone. Pain in the ass.

I personally want to talk to someone if I'm going to buy something. I've had them change to subject line or some other way to make sure their not scamming me. Here I feel I could get paid by someone and TW express something with out a problem. But just the average person? NO I want cash in my hand. I also found that getting one of those prepaid phones helps with craigslist, leave me a name and number, I'll call you back. Just my .02.
But in that case defiantly sounds like a scammer.

When it comes to buying vehicles on CL, know that there are a lot of scam ads. I was flagging anywhere from 5-20 a day when I was looking for my truck. There are usually some common flags to look for. I'll list a few. Note that this only concerns buying vehicles. I am sure there are also things to worry about for parts, but I've not seen much when I've looked for parts.

    - First and foremost, if it looks too good to be true, it is. Unfortunately, you should never assume an outlandishly good deal is legitimate. Super low prices are the biggest red flag. The chance of it being real is near zero.
    - List/ask price is an odd number like $3756.
    - Any glitches/off formatting in the ad. This can be seen in any part of it, but I noticed it a lot in the e-mail addresses.
    - The vehicle/description is clearly not right. This could range from simple stuff like saying it has X feature despite the pictured vehicle not having Y package that has it all the way to laughably bad things. I saw a Tacoma ad that said it was a van with 6 passenger seating one time. Or another the "original V8 engine".
    - The pictures. There is a bit to this one. You guys wouldn't notice until you were looking day after day for the same vehicle, but there are pictures that these bots use over and over, so those are an instant red flag. Also, the type of picture. Common elements for the trucks I saw posted were any wheel popular with the "bro truck" crowd, limited packages, perfect condition, photographed in the driveway of either a ranch style home where the land is flat with few trees and a perfectly manicured lawn and driveway, or a quaint suburban home on a quiet street type setting. For some reason, these are the most common, especially the former for some reason. The trucks were clearly never wheeled or abused.
    - When it comes to pictures, it's always a good idea to reverse image search the ones in ads. There are browser add-ons to do this via right-click, which is the easiest way. But you can also go to Google image search and click on the camera icon. This will bring up the reverse image search. Then you go to the image, right-click and select something like "Copy Image Location". At least that's how it's worded on Firefox. Regardless, you want the URL for the image itself. Then you paste that into the reverse image search. But I'd recommend getting an add-on. The one I use for Firefox is called "Contextual Google Image Search 2.1.1.1", but there are a myriad of them. They should be available for any browser. However you decide to do it, if Google brings up lots of ads on different sites, be suspicious. Especially so if those ads are listed in locations all over the country/at greatly different prices/worded differently despite using the same picture/are marked on spam & scam sites.
    - You can also often get sites reporting scam ads by Google searching any e-mail address or phone number listed in the ad.
    - If they ever mention heartache and wanting to get rid of a vehicle because of bad memories (like the one you posted @boynoyce ) don't even give it a chance. The ads like to play with emotions, especially when combined with a crazy good deal. It's to help justify the unreal price and garner sympathy from the potential "buyer". This may be in the ad or once you communicate with the "seller".
    - If they mention using ebay, but through e-mails and you never actually go to ebay, move on. It is fake (once again, like the ad you posted @boynoyce )
    - If they ever mention wire transferring funds via single use, reloadable cards of any sort, stay away. You can kiss your money goodbye if you do this. I know for a fact that the BS ebay method often leads to this.

There may be other points I am forgetting, but that gives you the majority. If you see any ads that stand out as fakes, just flag them and move on. I don't know if all vehicles are like this, but damn are Tacomas a big target. These are typically generated by bots. So not only will you potentially see a hell of a lot of ads, but the bots are shit and clearly not audited for much quality by their makers. Luckily, this lets them stand out. Best of luck looking for vehicles. CL has a lot to be wary of, but it's got plenty of good. It's where I bought my last car and my current truck, and a damn good deal on some parts. Just be quick to suspect and remember that a good deal is never worth risking it.
