I am about to buy a similar trailer. I was gonna add sumo springs to help with any sag as well as the WDH with sway. I think my weight loaded will be closer to 6000 which Im nervous about but I think It should be fine as long as Im not trying to scream up the hills and drive 80

I guess it's going to bowl down to a real world test because reading many posts here and elsewhere, in the past couple of days I have started leaning away from the Minnie and to something smaller, yet, you don't seem to have an issue with your 21' er. Wonder if I can rent one for the weekend somewhere.

I pull a Rockwood A122 SXR A Frame camper. The camper loaded up is just about 2900lbs, I wouldn't want to pull anything heavier than 3500lbs with my Tacoma. It will pull it, but if you tow in areas with elevation I would be looking at a full size truck.
I camp a lot, so this is just from my experience.

We bought our Tacoma to pull our Coachmen Clipper 17fq. We just bought the truck and the trailer is currently in storage, so we haven't been able to pull it yet. I will be installing a Brake Controller soon to be ready for Spring camping.

I can't give any help as far as a 3rd gen, but I will give some generic suggestions (already been mentioned). A WD hitch, sway control, and properly set up brake controller. Also, sumo springs or airbags to help with the sag. Get comfortable with towing it BEFORE going on a long trip.
Also, remember that the 2106 does ride lower than other trailers and the dump pipes hang low enough to get in the way of a small grain of sand. While the narrower design is better for smaller trucks, invest in a set of GOOD tow mirrors. Either full replacement flip up mirrors, or removable extensions, don't skimp on the quality. It isn't fun to get on the road and realize you can't see well in the mirrors because they vibrate too much.
And again, get comfortable towing it and learn the trailers characteristics before a planned trip. Personally, I am planning on getting the 2106DS because I don't like the wasted space of a bed. But then again, I'm single and don't have to worry about the thoughts of a gf/wife during my purchase.

Yea well that's the problem. I can survive with my trusty marine entrenching tool, she wants a bathroom and prefers a walk around bed. I had an old big 97 ram 2500 v10 in the side yard in beautiful shape with less than 55k miles on it for camping and off-road trips etc. But noooooooo, she kept harping about it sitting there most of the time. Now she wants a trailer and I'm up against the limits of a smaller truck - not to mention payment.

Check our some of the lightweight campers.
Here is a link to ours, it's half the weight of our towing capacity and has a walk around queen bed with large bath.

Well, this isn't really a travel trailer....but it's still towing. This is 5 carts of curling stones, Gross Trailer Weight 4860 lbs. The truck is a 2016 TRD Sport DCLB Automatic, I installed a pair of AirLift air bags based on previous experience in my 2005 TRD Sport Access Cab. For this load, I had about 40lbs of air pressure in them. I added a Tekonsha brake controller to handle the trailer brakes. No other towing specific modifications. I tow in 4th gear with the ECT on. Truck handles well at all speeds up to 70mph (loaded) although I typically only go about 60 or so.

I tow my little offroad camp trailer that weighs about 3500 loaded.
It does ok but it the mountains it struggles.
I have towed the max before but wouldn't want to do that for long distance!image.jpg

I talked to a dealer about the Minnie and he offered to let me do a test pull. You could ask.

My dealer also offered "Test Pulls"
Definitely something you should ask for!

Anyone try pulling a U-Haul style trailer with a AT 4x2 Tacoma TRD OR? The dry weight is around 2000lbs (loaded up probably 3100lbs) Just curious if I will run into problems on a 1300 mile trip up to Seattle...from San Diego. Just sticking to the 5 freeway, nothing fancy. Thanks

We just bought a 2106DS in matching orange! Any suggestions on mirrors?

I've spent this last week stopping at a bunch of different dealers looking at trailers and looking more at the 2106ds. As much as I like it (I really like the cherry, it matches my truck), the lack of insulation is starting to make me rethink.

I don't know what is available for the 2017s. Hopefully someone else can chime in. I like the CIPA custom fit mirrors that my father has on his Tundra. I modified them when a small bungee cord at the corners by the door to keep it tighter. I will be getting ProEFX mirrors for my Tacoma.

Looks like they're only available for tundras.
