Hello everyone. I have some concerns on my fuel economy and figured I'd throw my situation out there. My main concern is why is it so low.

I am currently getting 13 to 15 mpg on average per fill up. More towards the lower end. I would say my city to hwy ratio is 2 to 1.

I have done two Lucas oil flushes in the past 6 months. Always run Castrol oil and only use Shell or Chevron gasoline. Also recently had a front wheel bearing replaced along with an alignment.

I also do accent 600ft 1-3 times a day to my house. I have a feeling this is the main contributor, but wanted to get some confirmation

City driving will reduce your MPG as will long ascents. With your mix of city vs highway driving what you're getting doesn't seem alarming.

If you're really concerned take advantage of your next long freeway trip (starting with full tank) and when you have to refill calculate your MPG.

Also check that your engine air filter is clean.

I don't even look at my MPG's during winter. The combination of winter gas and pretty much always being in 4WD makes me just happy if I can get 200-240 miles before the light comes on.

Stop pissing away money on Lucas Oil crap. Its 2017 gas is clean (regardless of who you buy it from).

Looks like in your picture you have wider/bigger tires. :smack: No kidding that will drop mpgs. And if you are running larger diameter tires make sure you are accounting for that when doing your mpg calculations. If not it will appear you are getting lower than you are.

Also city driving sucks on this truck. So if you do short city trips your mileage will be low.

AND keep your foot out of it. Keep rpms under 1500-2000. No taking off at lights.

Be happy, I've averaged 10mpg over the last nine fill ups.

I have averaged 17-18 since I got the truck. Towing is what kills it for me. Drops to 13.

Even in Colorado with mixed driving I get around 17 in the winter. I'm soft on the gas and only run 265/75/16 Duratracs. I probably sit at 75% highway and 25% city with an elevation change of about 1500-1700ft on my daily commute.
