Considering buying out my lease to purchase a Tundra or 4Runner... don't really know much about either vehicle though. What I do know I hate how my new Tacoma drives, the transmission and constant "jerking" is a killer! Not sure if the Tundra drives the same way... I would rather stay with a pickup, I have to go test drive the Tundra soon. Any suggestions on which vehicle... pro's or con's?

You kinda either need a pickup or you don't. You can put a cap on a truck bed, you can't easily make the rear end of an SUV removable.

So first you need decide that one.

Can't help you with jerking. I don't have any issues on that with my truck.

You'd probably do better to go to those forums and ask folks there.

It did kinda sound like the other guy wanted a Titan from the get go and thought he could downsize to a Taco but the accident just took away his desire to try to enjoy it.

Had a 14 and a 15 TRD 4wd Tacoma. Didn't like the looks (or reviews) of the 3rd Gens. Bought a 4Rrunner instead. Same powertrain as the Tacoma's I had. Drove better though and got better mileage (don't understand that AT ALL).

Would have just as soon had a Tundra but was scared of the mileage. 40 plus years of building great trucks and Toyota screwed the pooch with the 3rd Gens. No idea what they were thinking. If they change the 4R to the 3.5 and change the body they will screw that up too. Hope they don't. Love mine

Towing a small boat, throw dirtying my dirty golf clubs in, hauling a little wood... I just like the ease of a truck bed and not having to worry about cleaning up any dirt/spills right away.

Whiner... who likes a whiner whining on a good bye post?... Ah well ...

I was wondering if the OP was interested in a Honda Ridgeline... you might need a new "satchel" with that one tho.... keep the key fob from rattling when skipping around an all....just sayin...

You can get those hard plastic cargo trays for the 4 runners too for the dirty stuff. It can tow a small boat as well.

Well the 4 runner is smaller and better gas mileage. Tundra has tons of room and power but maybe not as practical for commuting or around town/ city use. Both have better throttle response and transmission than the turd gen. We have a 2016 4runner and Tacoma. Prefer driving the 4 runner but the truck is mostly a must for hunting. You could always get a 4runner a tow a small utility trailer when needed. I'd probably just go with the Tundra though. Honestly the only real upside of the third gen is the modernized tech and gadgetry of the interior.

The gas mileage on the 4runner is 18.5 avg after 20k miles. My tacoma is at 19.2 after 22k miles. Certainly not a significant difference
