I've been looking in Ft Worth and haven't found any good deals really. I'm actually headed back up there to go to REI in a bit for a few things so I'll take a look at their offerings.

I guess I just need to do some more research on components and what I want and what to avoid.

I havent read the whole thread, but if your into xc/all mountain (trail riding) take a look at kona's process bike line. I ride a process 134, and its a great all around bike. Online bike retailer jensen has some on sale.

Go check out Fort Worth Cycle Center off Cherry lane in fort worth.

Also, i highly recommend Bicycles Inc off Grandbury road in fort worth. They open at 1pm today. Talk to the mechanics in the back, they are awesome.

Bottom line is get an air fork and at least Shimano SLX level components or SRAM equivalent. I believe X7 is the SLX equivalent.

    What is your budget?

I was at the Bicycles Inc off Granbury yesterday and swung by the one in Arlington today. Also went to Mellow Johnny's yesterday and took a Specialized Rockhopper Comp for a stroll while I was there. I liked it but then again I didn't really have anything to compare it to. I stopped by Performance Bicycle today as well and checked out a few Fuji's and a Breezer.

My price range is around $650-750 but there's a little play in there. I'm not in any hurry to buy though. I don't even know for sure that I will (I'm moving in a few days and need to get settled there first). The more I talk to different people the more confusing it all gets and the more contradicting opinions I get. Seems the only way I'm going to know what I need/want is to ride a lot and I can't do that until I buy one. And I'll probably regret whatever I get. Kind of a catch 22. Luckily most places have a return policy for store credit on another bike so that's a plus.

Havent had a chance to yet. Im going to take it over to Giant Lakeside tomorrow or monday. I also have a slow leak in the rear tire that I can find for the life me. Starting to think it may be the tape and its leaking through a spoke hole. It looks like I'll have to take one spacer off my head tube but it should fit fine.

Im also debating having my body shop paint the lower portion.

So with all this talk, lets set up a ride all of us. I'm down for any trail in the area really. Tomorrow may be out due to rain and the meet up. Perhaps next weekend.
