    Hello. I am wondering what everyone is running for speakers in their first gens. I'm looking for only the doors, and don't really want to modify anything to make them fit. I have a single cab. Any recommendations?

    In my other car, I removed the Bose "premium" speakers and put in Focal ones. The sound is much better with the stock head unit. Planning to put these in.

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    I'll catch shit for it because they aren't boutique quality, but I like my Kicker CS65. That's what fits in early 1st gens that don't have oval speaker. They have kinda harsh tweeters but a bit of tuning with the equalizer evens them out nicely and you can really get them to sound quite rich with proper amplification. I run a three channel amplifier (JBL GTO-3EZ) gives each door speaker about 50watts and I think 500watts to the subwoofer. I haven't ever been dissatisfied by the kickers in the doors though and I'm not an easy critic.

    I am sure you know this, but if you go to crutchfield and enter your specific truck it will tell you what fits, what needs adaptors and what won't.

    I replaced all 4 speakers with some Rockford Fosgate P16 Punch 6-Inch 2-Way Coaxial Full-Range Speakers. They sound amazing. I bought these specifically because I didn't want to run a sub and wanted to compromise to have some range and bass. (I have a low profile underseat sub now) but these were amazing in capturing ever aspect of the sound range. You can feel them pushing air when the bass is turned up. They sound even better now that I'm running a LP Kenwood sub under the seat. Here's a link:

    Get the 4 runner tweeter pods and use those in the Tacoma, that way the tweeters are mounted up on the top of the door

    Just put them in, Corbeau LG1 seats and fit perfect.took an hour to install them, direct fit with the sliders.

    Yup they recline, sub is a 10" kicker sub speaker in a kicker enclosure, door speakers are Polk audio split with tweeters using the 4Runner tweeter pods with an Alpine satiliite reciever
