Hey, I am getting my 17 Tacoma Limited over this weekend and looking to get running board or step. This will be my first truck so just want to see what would be best options. I want the step/runningboard to use as a step as well as protection from door ding. I dont want to drill any hole on the car. If anyone have any of these step/board I would love to hear any feed back or comments from you guys
    1. Steelcraft STX300 Running Boards
This look great but I am not sure it is usable as step and ding protection
    2. Aries 5.5" AdvantEDGE Side Bars
It seems to fit both purpose. But I am not sure about the quality, and how would it look on the car.
    3. Raptor Series® - 7" SSR Series Cab Length Running Boards
Not sure if it would fit on the Tacoma. I havent seen any picture of it on the Tacoma
    4. Luverne MegaStep Nerf Boards
Look good too but concern about quality and step weight.
    Thanks guys.

Thanks for the info. I saw that you have the OEM. It looks great but it is high for me to use as a step. I am trying to search for more pictures from those listed above but it is hard to find one on Double Cab Tacoma

Note that there seem to be a couple different "OEM" in that dealers here have a couple different styles they'll order up with the trucks. Also check out "Predator" and "Shark" steps/boards.

found the Predator steps that are so common (and often available cheap as take-offs) to just not be placed right for me. Hated the ones I tried while shopping.

Merely as a datapoint: I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam, and the OEM cast aluminum steps work great for me. I step up on them and sit down into the truck to get in. Sort of in reverse to get out. They also provide good door protection when I have to park next to other folks.

Yeah I am not the fan of the Predator and Shark step mostly cause I have small kids. I am trying to avoid some thing with sharp or pointy edge so they wont hurt themselves running around the house.

I am only 5'5" so it may work. The OEM running board is on the list if I cant find anything that suit my style better. Thanks again for the input.

BTW have you have any experience with Aries step bar? It is my first choice but not sure how it would look on the truck and also concern about the quality. Amazon has Aries for less than 300 + mounting brackets.

I also like Steelcrafts STX300 cause it gives out "normal" running board look. But not sure 4.5" wide would be enough to protect from door ding.

If I could do it again, I wouldn't get the aluminum Toyota running boards or any running boards for that matter. They just get in the way when you get in and get your pants all dirty.

Maybe, maybe I would consider the Predator Steps.

Nfab steps seem to be the best price, sturdiest construction and look really great.
