Me and a Jeep friend of mine were having a look under the hood when we spotted a design flaw. I do not know if this effects just the 6 cylinder Tacomas but I wanted to point this out to everyone.

Our intake plenum is supported by steel brackets, one of those brackets is rubbing directly on the upper line to the water inlet housing. Toyota has kindly placed some plastic braided sleeve in the area but unfortunately mine is showing wear 5 months in.

I sure as hell do not want to get stuck out in the middle of the desert on one my adventures with an overheating problem. Have a look at the pictures and my fix

I used an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel, took 2 minutes plus some paint time and I now have a 1/4" of space between the two. Hope this helps another Tacoma owner from getting stranded in a bad situation.

Mine is close, but after 13k there are no abrasions/rubbing on the protective sleeve.

That's too close, but I'd think if they twisted that hose off bias during install, it would touch as it did in yours OP.
