    Any expert advise greatly appreciated.

So if this is the A/C Amplifier:
    20170112_151402.jpg

And this is the correct pin-out:
    capture.1484260338.jpg

Then I think TEMP+ and TEMP- may be pins 3 and 4.

    Anyone tried this?

This would make installation much easier

Turns out you can't, at least not on my Tacoma.

When tapped into the existing sensor, the reading will measure ~ 10-15 degrees off. If you remove the A/C sensor leads, it reads fine; bummer.

    I'm ordering an additional sensor.

Hmm weird @kgarrett11 has a 15 you would think it's wired the same.

Running your own sensor should be easy.

Has anyone seen an overhead compass/temp gauge for a 2009 lately or know what the part number is?

    Sorry for the late reply.

You talking about replacing that specific part? I ended up just using the temp/compass display that came with the overhead console that I got from eBay.

Thanks for the answer but I was way off at that point since I had not read through the whole thread. Ordered a Gentex through Mirror Bob today. Great guy to deal with!

I just read through this thread. Will this sensor work for the compass and temp gauge on my 2015. do I have the plugs under my existing console? I know I need to get the unit and the console. Thanks

It does not take much to pull the overhead console and check to see if the wires are there. I need to check myself but I expect them to be there since the temp sensor is on the front of my truck. I would check in front of the radiator to see if the sensor is on yours, then pull the overhead console.

Yeah, i checked and the sensor is mounted out front (077500-5191). I have a 2015 and surprised one was there.... unless there was an option for a rearview mirror with temp/compass. I need to pull the console loose and see if there are connections to plug into. I'm assuming there would be since the sensor is already mounted out front. I'm just wondering if the 2009 - 2011 compass will plug into this and work correctly? I'll need to get the correct console as well.

Thanks to eBay... I picked up a used 2010 overhead console. In 5 minutes I was done and worked flawless. Both connectors were above and even the ambient temp sensor in front of the radiator. Thank you for the write up!

has anyone had this issue with their console, compass stuck on one direction .temp gauge works fine, but compass stuck on N. I tried driving around in a circle at least 4X on different occasions , disconnected the battery from the neg the pos and then both cables for no less than a hour while I cleaned my truck ,still no dice .It's a 2009 model year. I also tried holding in the button to reset the region still no good. It actually reads , CAL N ?Thanks to anyone that can help me out.

Does anyone have one for sale compatible with a 2015 SR5?
Also, know if models between '09 and '15 are of the same or similar design?

Yes, I am a little slow. I have a 2009 AC and would like to do this install to gain outside temp. It looks as though there is a temp sensor already installed on the truck but no inside display. I have found an upper console with temp display that is from a 2008; is there any chance that this would be a simple swap to gain temperature? Thanks

UPDATE: I think I found my answer: in order for a "simple swap" it would have to be from a 09-11 Taco? Please correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks again
