Get in on the free leaf spring replacement from Toyota. Take it to the local dealer and have them inspect them. For shocks you can't go wrong with Bilstein 5100's.

I didn't know there was a free leaf spring replacement from Toyota... What's wrong with them?

City-data is a great place to post and/or read about cities and towns in the USA, and even around the world to an extent. Just wanted to say, though, we had considered moving to Doylestown at one point (was in Bustleton, Far Northeast Philly at the time, and worked in Chesterbrook), then decided not to because of the feedback we received from City-data regarding crime and quality of life.

That's because the leaf spring recall covers only 6-lug Tacomas...
They rust and can crack. On 6-lug models where the leaf is above the axle, a cracked leaf can shift sideways and puncture the fuel tank. 5-lug leaf springs can also rust and crack, but can't puncture the fuel tank, so they aren't covered by the recall.

They suck. I got my leafs replace for free. Got home and took them off and added a AAL. The ride is great now. Do a Google search on the leaf spring replacement

Ask this question on a enthusiast site, expect opinionated responses.

First time I had ever heard of a front wheel drive truck it was with my buddies caddy. Kinda blew my mind but there's a niche for them and so be it. May not be my cup of tea but no reason for me to put them on blast.

As for the ridge line, it fills a gap that people will utilize. One of my co workers elaborated on it quite well. "Why would I pay for all this extra stuff and poor gas mileage when I can get this to use as a small form truck to haul lumber, plywood, kids toys and furniture when I need it to?"

He makes a point. For those that need a bed to transport stuff from one place to another who cares what platform it's on.

I think, don't know for sure, but THINK, that some of the older Mitsubishi pickups were front wheel drive. Commonly branded as Dodge D50 or Ram 50 and Plymouth Arrow as well...

The yellow truck below is a 1980 Plymouth Arrow. I found the pic on Google.

Then you've also got the Dodge Rampage and Plymouth Scamp based on the L-body hatchbacks... Those were more "mini El Camino wannabes" than trucks though... and they were FWD. The real El Camino was RWD.

It's been discussed here many times before, lots of ridgeline threads about this topic...

I didn't intend to offend anyone, I just took a technical standpoint and thought the meme was funny...

I'm not offended by it, just offering a different perspective. The ridge line serves a purpose and people buy it. I don't think anyone from here would but doesn't mean that it doesn't serve a purpose for those who buy it.

Though I have a feeling if what happened to me in October 2015 happened in a Ridgeline instead of my Tacoma, the Ridgeline probably would have been totaled. Unibody vehicles are harder to repair than body-on-frame...

Instead of fwd with part time rwd, it should of been rwd with part time front.

    And have a offroad edition.

So I looked at these things and for $30k you got a 2wd truck with a V6. Albeit it s a front wheel drive but if it fits the need for a certain consumer, why not.

I've seen double cab 2WD Tacomas driving around with the I4 so I figure is anyone is going to bust on the ridge line then the double cab 2wd 4 cylinder is fair game as well.

It's a great truck for some and not for others. Just like everything else.

Maybe someday Honda will build a truck. Until then, there's always the Ridgeline.

I've been hearing rumors of an Element pickup for years, that Element will be brought back...

And you would of had a new vehicle out of it. I got rear ended in 2009 in a 2003 Tacoma TRD Extracab and the damage was extensive. Frame bowed, bed mashed into the cab, radiator destroyed, ac condensor destroyed and $7600 later I had my truck back.

Maybe one day Toyota will come back to building a mid size truck that isn't over priced and underpowered.

I'd be weary of getting my truck back after even minor damage that resulted in the A/C condenser being replaced. Once A/C system are opened up and messed with, they are often never the same...
