I drove a 2015 F-150 before ordering my Taco, pretty impressive power. Went with tried and true, gas mileage. Although I see my 79 F-100 around town still.

Wow. I really am interested in seeing these things in 10 years. Diesels generally have a good long lasting setup and it would make sense if it translates. Still, a buddy just spent $17K repair/upgrading his Power Stroke after the turbo failed..... most of that cost was the repairs. Of course, it's a diesel.... and a turbo which is pretty expensive.

We bought a Subaru Forester and specifically stayed away from the Turbo because we were more interested in long lasting and low cost of later maintenance.

You wouldn't catch me dead driving a Ford truck. I do however am interested in the turbo v6 theory. Other than that, its still bolted to a daym Ford. No thanks.

Totally agree, as a slightly inclined wrench monkey I don't want anything to do with turbos.

It's got to spin up. Power comes in about 1000 rpms later than the old V6s did. Gears would probably be awesome in this thing..... of course MPGs would suffer.

I know they have terrible resale, poor quality and reliability (except the powertrain) but I drove a couple Ram 1500's yesterday at my part time job (auto auction driver) and that's a really nice set up/good looking/sounding truck even in lower trim form.

I love turbos........ but only in a fun, weekend, I don't depend on DD, kind of way.

For a pickup truck, I kinda just want simple.

Yep, its a rocket after it gets there, but still sucks for the scenarios mentioned.

That is not what it is going to look like, I have a feeling it is going to look like a smaller version of the F150.

Low RPM Torque would be even more beneficial Off Road versus high RPM HP.

GM is now using Turbos also in the Smaller suv's with smaller displacement engines . More of them will use turbos in 2018 .
It is good alternative to meet EPA regs. while driving without foot into it , and still have power when wanted.
Ford had direct injection only with the ECO's until 2017 . Now they have dual injection for help with carbon buildup in their 3.5L ECO , ( on the 2.7L also in 2018)just like the Tacoma .The main reason besides the physical size of the truck that I bought the Tacoma, is not wanting the extra potential problems of turbo replacements because of the cleaning of the carbon buildup that caused turbo failure . And well the second is that it's a Ford lol .
Toyota get the trans right and do it quick , and offer a supercharger for the 3.5 to compete !

35 before tax. He gave the dealer the exact spec he wanted, and they searched, and a month later they found it, and then he haggled from there.

Damn.... There are so many haters on here... some serious keyboard tough guys...

I was looking at the superchargers from toyota and I wish they would hurry up with a bolt on... I am not trying to win any speed records but a little more where this truck needs it and it would be an amazing truck. I heard no issues with warranty as well..

Id be happy with a super or turbo although I lean towards super as I think torque would be better around town and for tow.

Cool. Glad to see full size buyers aren't getting raped. Most of the stickers on the trucks I liked at the Ford lot were $50-60k.

The 2017 Canyorado twins can get into the 14's as well (4x4 Crew cab)

The new Raptor does 13's stock.

A chip/intake/exhaust on the Ecoboost gets you 500HP and a ton of torque.

Truck is just too big for trail riding.

While the specs say the Canyorado twins are about the same size as the Tacoma, for some reason they look bigger.

Superchargers seem to be in style on this section lately.....

We struggle to get 16mpg in this truck and also run alarming transmission temperatures with the aggressive driving the motor encourages.

I just do not see a supercharger of all things as viable for this truck.
