Hey Everyone, Like the heading says, my tacomas tranny blew today with only 2500 KMs on it.

I've been a long time lurker on this board and I love my truck, but I just had to see if this has happened to anyone else?

I was cruising at 100 km with cruise on and all of a sudden, I lost power, it reved really high and started vibrating like crazy.

    6th Gear was gone.

I pulled over to the side and the thing struggled thru all the gears, shaking wildly. All I could think of was "WTF, this is a brand new truck!!"

    Called roadside, got it towed.

Problem was, I'm 300 miles from home. Not exactly convienient.

Anyway, The dealer had a look, said that there was "water like substance"in the transmission. They had no answer.

So ya. Had to RENT A YARIS for the 3 hr ride home and I may get the truck back in a week when they get a transmission in from Vancouver.

The First week I had the truck, the glass cracked perfectly where the defrost vent is on the dash. Now this.

I'm not too impressed. Did I get a lemon? Bad Luck?

    Anyone have this happen?

Yikes. Mine went out just the other week. but I was offroading so thats probably why. Have the dealer replace the glass as well. If there is no sign of rock chips then have them do it for free. You could have got a lemon but lets see what happens with the new tranny.

    Or maybe.....ANOTHER RECALL! haha

Ugh! I have a 2010 double cab 4x4TRD off road on order, should be here in late March. I am really starting to get a little worried. A Pro-4-X is sounding better each day over the TRD off road on order. Ughhhh!

Just bad luck, most tacos here get a major beating every weekend from their owners who take them off road, and it seems like the are all OK. As they say shit happens and you just got a bad transmission. I think Toyota will replace your transmission and you will be OK. When it comes to your windshield those things are just weak in general. There is threads about it how people have cracks in them all over the place. I have 2 my self. Meanwhile just take the opportunity to beat the leaving crap out of your rental car (Yaris).

Must be a Canadian thing.... or rest of the world thing. I've been struggling to figure out the downhill olympic skiers speed in mph, but all they show is kmh. I will blame the public school system.

Divide Km/ by 1.61 to get mph

    100 Km/h = 62.1 mph

That doesn't bother me so much. Toyota's been in the news a lot, so logically a lot of Toyota owners are going to try to find information about their vehicles. You'll find TW if you search for much at all about Tacomas online. That brings people to the site... with tons of new people visiting the site, it makes sense that those with problems would want to post their complaints to try to find solutions or see if others have the same issues... Voila - lots of low post members w/ complaints.

Only three countries in the world are not officially metric:
Burma, Liberia, and the United States.

Apparently Burma and Liberia both use the metric system daily, but just haven't made it official legally.

    back to bone stock.
it would take billions of $$ for the US to convert completely to metric. we almost did about 10 years ago. we started the process, spent countless millions and said.."err never mind..my bad". we went back to english standard units. i for one, find the metric system easier to do engineering probs.

back on topic. to the OP sorry your tranny blew up. please come back and report the shop's findings.
