I have a 2016 TRDOR DC and am thinking of upgrading my door speakers all around, but am dead set on keeping my stock HU. I do not have the JBL premium system.

Looking around, it sounds like some have had great success replacing the stock speaks and some haven't noticed a difference. It seems that the third gen's are the most that don't have positive things to say.

I wanted to post specifically in this section to ask others - is it worth the upgrade? I got them for 20% off so it wasn't too pricey, however if i'm not going to gain anything (or potentially be worse for the wear), i will return them.

I Replaced my stock speakers with a set of JBL's and they sound fantastic compared to my stock speakers, also put the same speakers in my buddies 2013 sport with the stock head unit and it still sounds a lot better than factory!

The same exact size speaker are used for double cabs and access cabs! Got all 4 shipped from crutchfield for $180 with all the mounting brackets and wires to plug right into the factory plugs so everything is plug and play!

What kind of speakers did you buy to replace them?

Was just the speaker upgrade worth it? i have read that some people are actually making the systems sound worse after upgrading. Thank you!

I think it was worth every penny of the $180. I also upgraded my headunit also in my SR to a Pioneer 8200NEX. But we put the same JBL speakers in my buddies 2013 sport that had the factory head unit and factory speakers and man it sounds a hell of a lot better than it did!!!

how's the bass on them though?
usually once you upgrade to a higher quality speakers they're meant to be paired with a subwoofer and then the others just cover mids and highs?

Didn't know you did the head unit as well. Some are saying third gen stock HUs are tuned with the stock speaks, and that's why the aftermarket's sound like shiz.

I have the 4200 . Do you have some pics of the vehicle information screens you can post. Many would probably love to see them and how it interfaces with the truck.
I wish it had the pid for tranny temp.

I don't have the vehicle information screens because I have SR and I don't have any of that. Here is what my dash looks like! I used a ultra gauge for some of that stuff!

99.9% sure you have to have it in your factory radio in your dash in order to get all the wiring harness's to hook it up to the aftermarket head unit. I had a basic Head unit without all of that!

Ya it is, you had a 7" with navi from factory, I had a 6" basic radio without navi and those features!
