totally worth the upgrade, just plan it out well. If you want to keep the stock head unit, your best bet would be to get either an audio controls dqdx equalizer and line booster or a rockford fosgate EQ to give you control over the equalizer settings, and it also amplifies the signal a good bit before it hits your speakers to clean things up, get rid of crackles and pops and hisses, and give the signal more punch. This and door speakers would be a great start.

If you wanted to take that one step further you could amp up the door speakers on a 4 channel amp, as well as a subwoofer on a separate amp.

Just door speakers alone will sound a little better, especially if your speakers have a 'tinny' quality at high notes or when theres a bass note and a voice. In order to notice any increase in loudness however you will need some hardware to amp them up

No it doesn't. It gets it from a connector already back there.
    Obdii plug is free.
Has 2 pages of vehicle info plus tire pressure door open etc.

That obdii connector is not used in the install for the taco.
I installed all the wiring myself.
Look at the wiring chart downloads on the site i linked and you will see how it hooks up. Its under install guides.

I have the wheel set up so pressing buttons also brings up navi from android auto, vehicle info, pressure etc

You program the steering wheel switches anyway you want with your pc.

If you're going to do it, do it right. I would strongly advise adding an amp when you do the speakers. Ideally, you should add a small sub as well.

I will have to double check but looks right. Notice the lower link harness on the left will need to be spiced into the top link harness. Not the car harnesses though. There are great youtube vids on this.
It plugs in in less than a minute to the truck using existing factory connectors, no mods needed.

Learned a lot from these guys and all their vids on wiring and installs.

When WAZE update comes to android auto it will be awesome. Using google maps gps now. Also ask it anything and it answers from internet search. Its almost like an alexa. Searches all your music when you ask to play a certain song and plays it.
    Beats stock head IMO.

The best way to upgrade sound if you are keeping the factory radio is to get an Audison Bit Ten and alpine 5 channel amp ($329.00 Amazon and a alpine 5 channel amp $199.00 ). The Bit Ten will remove the factory EQ and give you limitless option , the only thing you need is a windows computer. Audiocontrol is nice but it is old school , and both will hook the same .
