Or maybe the guy hooked him up with a really good deal and he doesn't want to publicly say it here because others won't get that same deal?

Opticoat is the brand I went with. There are a few legit ceramic sealants out there that actually last year's and opticoat is one of them. A lot of snake oil scams out there also. Opticoat.com

Detailers that do opti coat sign a contract with the company that it has to be sold for $799. I was hooked up. So if you're interested I can DM you the details

Well the price detailers sign a contract to pay is $799 for opticoat pro and $1,200 for the pro plus. My guy told me if I was doing any offroading which I do he wouldn't recommend the pro plus. That's basically for show room Ferraris. I got the Pro

The total price can vary. Most important thing about a ceramic sealant is the preparation. You're basically putting on a new stronger clear coat so any imperfections in the old one will be stuck their forever. I did mine immediately after picking up the truck. But if I waited I probably would've had to do paint correction - cost starts at a few hundred and up for someone who I'd trust working on my paint.

That said, this is no ad. I'm just stoked on how this stuff worked out. Spent a lot of money on that pro, want to keep it fresh for years to come. I've also gotten a lot of the TW community and wanted to give back some info that hasn't been talked about too much.

All the reasons I assumed and asked why he didn't post price and dm'd it. I figured he was embarrassed about how much he spent. I figured he would get flamed for spending what he did on truck and the pointless paint protection (my opinion). I also agreed it sounded like an ad.

if ya'll aren't looking to spend 800 to 1500 dollars on a fancy top coat protection. you can still just wax your car every 6ish months and be just fine. it's a tried and true protection for paint that people have been putting on their vehicles for several generations. way cheaper.

it might take longer, but i find it's more fun to get out there and spend some time cleaning and waxing my own car. pride of ownership, yo

a real nice wax will cost you 20 dollars and last for a bunch of applications. enjoy the cost savings vs opticoat and bring someone out to a nice dinner with the extra money in your pocket. or buy yourself a nice new offroad bumper :)

A local guy/shop. $800 for wet sanding, polishing, opticoating, sealing. I knew the guy. I think he charges $1200 now.

I'm a big fan of paint coating. My last two cars were done with G-Techniq, tho my detailer switched to Ceramic pro not long after doing my Audi. They made it easy to keep black cars looking great. Had a new coating done to the Taco. Was not originally going to have it done, but he was trying out a new low cost coating, so I went for it. Think it was called AmeriCoat. It's an acrylic coating instead of quartz/ceramic, but was only $400. So far, so good!

Go to any shop that does car wraps or vinyls and they can do it for you. It's pricey though for good quality stuff. I got it done for $400 with a 12 year warranty. Was seeing quotes as high as $600 though. I'm sure you can find cheaper places

Opticoat is a new, much harder clear coat that bonds to the existing one... After doing it they recommend hand washing the car once a month to get the best long term benefits. So you can still get out and clean you car. Wax is great, but this stuff keeps your car looking glassy with out a mark for years...

Do your research buddy. Ceramic sealants have come a long way and make wax look like snake oil.

I spent $50k on my truck and feel great about it. Feel even better about spending a few hundred on top to keep my paint prestine for years.

Do you off road a lot? Was it opticoat pro or opticoat optimum that you applied?

The finest microfiber towels are the cheapest ones from Costco. 30 for $15 :) everything else is overpriced BS
