I just hit the rocker panels and lower doors. My only intention was a solution to replace the mud flaps that wouldn't work for me.

Nice, great way to go, just expensive... How much was the quote? Are they going to warranty it?

Innovation that many detailers including the forums on autogeek will tell you still has yet to be proven to be any better than the previous paint correction/wax/sealant twice a year routine. All nano's will require touch-up/up keep and cost 3-4 times as much as a standard wax/sealant. Dealers and detailers are pushing these products because it costs them very little in time and product cost and can charge a ton more. Yes it is the latest in detailing protection for your vehicle and has shown great results but it still has yet to be proven any better than doing a simple polish/paint correction coupled with wax and sealant routine that costs a fraction less. I too have detailer owner friends that will tell you the same thing. I even did my last 2 trucks in the ceramic pro.

it's guaranteed for life, i've had the front retouched once. i get the hookup but it's still big dough. i don't know what they'd normally charge but my quote was north of $4k

Never said anything otherwise. Just saying you can accomplish the same results and protection without nano coating for less. Doesn't mean its not a good product or protection option.

my point was that it's not real expensive. i don't know what the other prices were for, maybe it's regional. i know i get a discount but i think at full rate it's not more than a couple hundred bucks. i think it's worth the money. most of my friends with exotic cars have the same stuff done on theirs as i do

Most are $300-500 for 2 years, $600-800 for 5 years. You can pay less/do it yourself with similar results/protection with paint correction and using a good wax/sealant, but that requires more work too. Its an option, nano's are great, I like mine on my 15 and 16 trucks, but I'm not 100% sold over wax/sealant quite yet, there are still some apprehension about long term results as well.

Yes you are getting a discount, and that's not what I pay either, just what is usually the going rate for nano coating. I agree it works and has great results, but its not a coat it and forget it solution and not the only option.

This is a good middle ground between traditional high quality waxes and very pricey protective films (e.g. XPEL)

I have Xpel Ulimate done on hood, bumper, side mirrors, rockers and then have OptiCoat Pro applied over it.
Opticoat Pro was $500 I think.
    Xpel Ultimate was $1,200.

Coatings work when installed correctly and maintained properly. I have Ceramic Pro on my Tacoma and 2 other vehicles.
