    Old thread, but whatevs...

Had some money saved up. Listed condo for sale with intent to buy a house. After 2+ months of scrubbing it clean every Friday for some flakey ass to waste my time on Saturday, I got tired of dealing with idiots that don't believe the ad when it says "1BR 815sq ft" and show up expecting to find a "hidden" den that isn't in the description, floor plan, or photos, and proceed to tell me they can't buy a 1BR without a den. So I took the condo off the market, decided to chill for a few years, went to a dealer a few days later and drove out in a paid-for Tacoma. Have spent the year since sinking money and insane amounts of time into upgrades, because bro.

Having just about finished with all desired truck modifications, overlanding-related purchases, and booked three months of unpaid time-off (for overlanding trips) this year, I'm just about ready to start enjoying life and saving for a house again.

Long story short, no house because Tacoma life.

Renter in the Bay Area. As a single guy I have 0 desire to own a home here. I am maxing out multiple retirement accounts and saving money elsewhere as well. Maybe someday the GF and I will get married and will get a house, or if I move someplace more affordable, but for now I don't want or need the headache.

Well, I have what we sometimes call a Kentucky Doublewide, a Modified singlewide Mobile home with an addition, on 8 acres of riverfront property out in the country. Nicest part is that it's paid for, lock, stock, and fireplace!

Gorgeous man. Hard work paying off. I too am so ready to be a home owner and planted after years of active duty apartments, roommates paying their mortgages and jumping around. Hopefully someday I'll be in a career and financial place to own something similar. Absolutely stunning, maybe I should sell my 3rd gen and buy a cheap 1st gen, accelerate my debt snowball.

You seem like you have your shit together, don't worry about the housing situation. You're getting your schooling done, getting yourself better situated for the future. The rest will fall into place. Of course accelerating the debt snowball is always a good idea.

Yep, why I picked up the part time job to supplement. Still trying to recover from irresponsible financial decisions in my early 20s, makes it hard sometimes. Am envious of my friends with houses, careers they enjoy, etc. maybe someday I'll get there. If I could do it over again I should have never sold my 11 Tacoma or 15. Stuck paying for this really nice 17 but the money could be better spent for sure.

There are two people in gen 1 forum. They recently sold 17 and a 14 tacoma and are going back to 01-04 so no payments, they said.

Good luck with your situation. I have confidence you will come out of it right side up

Dude my entire 20's was one irresponsible decision after another, had nothing to show for myself other than getting a degree. Finally wised up around 30. Shit happens.

Well I don't think I could, I owe a little more than its worth from my crappy Silverado decision in 14, wish I could though.

I am 20 miles south of Monticello, Ky, very close to the Tennessee State Line, Just above Pickett State Park. Employment around here sucks, actually. it's a mostly rural county with little industry. I got my land for 10,000 per 5 acre plot, but the guy I bought from was a brain-dead hippie who had NO idea of land values. But, I'm retired so having a job is not essential for me.

So I finally had a decent amount of equity in my 2011 Tacoma, buddies started getting new Silverados for 10k off sticker, made a bad rash decision and traded her for one, realized I fucked up and traded it and some negative equity into my 15 Tacoma. Finally realized my truck ADD needs to stop for my financial health.

Gotcha. Population sounds like about 6500 people.

10K for 5 acres, is like free land.

I can't even comment on that.

My primary house, property tax is $103.45 a day.
