I found a use cap off of a 07 extended cab for a good price, but the guy is telling me it will not fit on a 2010 dc long bed. does anyone know if this is correct, it is kind of a long drive to get there and not have it fit.

I am thinking it would fit. The Access cab bed is the long bed right? Theyre are only two beds for the tacomas.

My thoughts are that the only issue is bed legnth as well......Short or long is all that matters.

I believe a different mold is used for the access cab and the double cab - the cab lines are different between the two... Doesn't mean it won't fit.

what brand is the cap? I was wondering the same question as well when I was buying my cap. I heard LEER has difference molds for AC and DC beds. I have an ARE and was not able to get a definite answer. On my truck, the cap looked liked it lined up so I bought it. I'm sure if I look hard enough I might be able to see a difference, but it doesn't bother me.

Soundproofed cab, beeps purged, bed lights, extra bed tie-downs and TSB springs.
My Leer was previously on an AC, and looks perfect on my DC LB. It is the same box.

If the cap is for an 05-10 model and 6 foot it will fit either the extended cab or double cab long bed models. It won't however fit on a regular cab with 6 foot bed. The reason it won't fit is the regular cab is vertical whereas the extended and double cabs have a rounded cab at the back.
I found this out because a canopy I was looking at on C/L was bought by another guy with a regular cab. He bought it in the dark and drove it home. Next day be realized the canopy was hitting his 3rd breaklight. He relisted and I now have it on my rig. You can check out my profile pics. The SnugTop canopy was black. Maaco did a great job of color matching.
    good luck. Ken:cool:

I can't say I've seen an access cab on a double cab and how drastic the differences are. I can tell you that LEER uses two different mold codes for them.

The 6ft bed dimensions are the same. I think it comes down to the curvature of the cab that could make the rooflines not line up exactly the same between the AC, DC and regular cab.

call the manufacturer of the topper your looking at and ask them. even better yet get the serial number off the one your looking to buy and maybe they are different and maybe the guy with the ac cab has the wrong one from day one, that is if there is a difference

Your are correct, as well as others who have also pointed this out, but this thread illustrates how many post without knowledge of their own trucks.

I am ordering a Leer for an access cab, so I will ask the people I order from if there is a difference. I have never looked closely to see if the AC and DBL cab have different rear area profiles, but they seem to be the same.

Thanks for all the info. I think I am just joing to break down and buy a new one with everything I need in and on it.(ladder rack, windoors, and toolboxs) Yall are right the beds are the same, the area I am talking about is the rear of the CAB itself. There is a small difference between an 07 ac and a 2010 dc, witch makes the bottom of this cap sit closer to the CAB then at the top. The cap maufacturer in question is Jerico, and they dont wrap around the rear of the CAB like some other manufacturers. Thanks again for all the info.
