I say rattle can, but i'm not nice to my vehicles and PC just isn't worth it IMO. Hell I bash my stock bumper(rubber FJ bumper ftw) into shit, let alone if it was metal.

I'll be using Duplicolor Bed Coating on my front bumper when the time comes - easy to touch up - looks like shit but honestly I don't care. I already run things over for fun....

Don't talk down on the bed coating lol, painting everything I get using that lol my damn skid plates are still sitting in the basement, but if this nice weather keeps up they might be painted soon.

IDK never tried. Honestly you get used to it very quickly. Once you put it in N the shacking goes away
Agreed. If done right it has a cool looking textured finish to it

Yeah $300 really is kind of a deal breaker for me so maybe rattle can it is if I pull the trigger.

I really like the look of @ERMB's color matched bumper though. We'll see.

I vote color match! It's aluminum so you never have to worry about scratches rusting. Color match would look awesome in my opinion.

Anyone know of a new england metal fab company that could weld up a custom bed cage? I'd hand them a concept drawing and they build it... Maybe offer some design advice

If my fabricator wasn't slammed he could but he can't even keep up with my schedule. I'll keep an eye out. I'm pretty sure any good welder can do it with the right tools.

Morning! Does anyone know if they make high end trailer plug adapters? My trailer is a flat 4 plug, the truck is a round 7 way so I use an adapter. I've had to buy 2 of them this year alone because they fail and the lights start to flicker. Maybe I need to use dielectric grease on the next new one I get and keep doing that? This is a pain the ass.

Dielectric grease helps - do you leave it (the 7-way to 4-way adapter) plugged in or just when you use the trailer?

I unplug it and leave it with the trailer attached to the wiring harness. Maybe that's the issue, I should unplug the adapter and keep it in the truck cab. I think the salt just kills these cheap adapters and was hoping someone makes something hardcore. Was gonna rewire my trailer harness to use a 7 blade to match the truck, but I'm worried that will fail too.

I would only do that if the color you chose is readily available. Also just so that you know. The bed liner that I always recommend is paintable. I saw an episode of extreme 4x4 that Ian was painting over that stuff on a chassis that he built and it looked awesome. I wonder if I can find it
X2 the dielectric grease should help but a lot of it will be just the fact that the pins won't be pushed or pulled so much as you put on or take off the adaptor

I'll try keeping the next one greased up and leave it in my truck instead of in the weather. I just hate unplugging the 4 flat all the time becasue those little round pins get so messed up over time and I tow almost daily this time of year. And it's definitely the 7 blade to adapter connection becasue when I wiggle that it flashes the trailer.

There's a guy here in framingham that does a ton of custom work, but he mostly does land cruiser armor. I've spoken to him a couple times about doing a tires wing for my rear bumper. I'll see if I can find his info.
