i am trying my damnedest to find the Original write up for this but from what I Remember is Toyota put this Breather system in the 2 gen 12-15 for some reason. So that is why when you start your truck it make a loud sucking noise for like 5-10 seconds or until it warms up (I'm in AZ so its always warm) also when you shut your truck off it will make a loud sucking noise for like one second right after you shut the truck off. This is this breather thing No clue what it is called it basically is to remove moisture from your valves (from what i remember) in order to have some emissions benefits. The filter that filters the air is just a piece of foam if you take it out and but an actual filter on it you eliminate a potential problem. There was a whole thread about the foam breaking apart and getting sucked up into the fan in this thing and causing tons of damage trowing your truck into limp ext. it "breathes" louder because there is nothing pressed against the blades so the sound is not muffled and after market air filters always have more air flow.

So that was a concern of mine that's why i kept my original parts. I know it was a huge issue with the 2012s i think the 13,14 and 15 don't have the issue as much because they changed the type of foam filter they were using. so the hopes of a recall is unlikely but i kept my parts just in case.
