So, I had the transmission TSB performed last week and hoped that it would clear up this issue but no luck. Basically, and tell me if any of you feel it as well, when accelerating 25%-40% throttle, it feels as almost there is a slight misfire. Very slight, very subtle, but I can feel it. I haven't addressed it with the dealer yet since they may tell me I am nuts but I can feel it. Anyone else?

No specific speed or gear. Does it while accelerating

Probably just the torque converter clutch being locked up. They lock it at low speeds and it tends to cause the engine to chug. Like putting a manual in too high of a gear

Not sure if there is a newer, more appropriate thread but, my truck does this. Most noticeable on steady up hill climbs with RPM less than 3k and partial throttle.

Yep, my manual trans Tacoma falls on its face around 2000-2500 rpm.

It has been mentioned on here by others as well.

I think it's just one of the quirks of this powertrain.

Does it feel like a soft spot in the power curve or does it feel like an engine stumble/misfire?

Same thing here - it's not quite as bad after the Rev 1 TSB b/c it doesn't seem to hover in the same RPM range on acceleration, but I still feel it unless I'm heavy on the foot. And being heavy on the foot isn't always possible when dealing with city traffic. I'm just not sold on whether its a quirk of the power train or something is wrong - doesn't feel like it should seem like a miss or, as another TW member described it, "like a fish tugging on bait"

Mine is more like a flat spot. It doesn't feel like a misfire. I notice it more upon throttle tip-in when accelerating in a high gear.

If I downshift and accelerate from 3k rpm, the torque curve feels more linear.

That's why I think it's just a character of the engine. Seems to be predictable, in the same area of the powerband.

Mine feels more like a misfire or stumble. Steady throttle. When at higher rpms I don't notice as much/at all.

Yep, below about 2200 RPM outside of 1st gear and you are going nowhere anytime soon.

Also I find that if I mash the gas in that RPM range the torque is highly non-linear (almost like a sine wave) bobbing the truck back and forth until it gets to about 2500+.

I shift higher up in the RPM band to avoid it unless I'm in a traffic situation where I know I won't need to get up and move.

Yup, another thread discusses this. I have it. Ethanol free fuel seems to be the fix. I am still doing some testing:

I have a 2016 TRD Sport with 96,000, Has been chugging since new, they have changed my torque converter, done about 3 different tranny software updates and still chugging so over the weekend I went and got a new set of spark plugs at the dealer and pulled the first old one out and it was gaped at .25, they're supposed to be .40, all of the plugs from the factory were between .25 and .30, I properly gaped and installed the new ones and went for a ride, no more chugging it completely fixed it!!

93 Octane fixes the low throttle miss my truck has. Done it for 50k miles now.

Same. I've run nothing by 93 octant for over 2 years now primarily for this reason, as well as the drastic reduction in engine vibes and overall smoothness... I didn't think I was buying a vehicle that needed 93 for me to enjoy driving it, but here we are... ;)

I think its pretty common. a buddy sort of complained similar as the op his 2019 trd did this. The transmission would shudder in 6th gear at very low rpm around 1200. He had the tsb upgrade, but said it was still the same after. He just lived with it.

it feels like it's starting to lug. when mine does this, with a obd scanner hooked up, you can see it retarding timing in real time. it will go from 8, to 7, to 6, 5, 4, 3 degrees, etc. the more timing retard, the worse it feels. it usually happens on low-medium throttle hill climbs. i think the truck is trying to hold the gear but it's starting to knock so the ECU is retarding timing.
