Frame recall and weld on sliders

Hi there, just wondering if any of you out there know if welding frame sliders on could impact eligibility for the frame rust recall in the future?

I'm not showing any signs of frame rust on my 09 DCLB, but I got a notice in the mail about the recall that got me thinking (the post card was not from Toyota, but some other class action group??). I have a set of weld on sliders that are going on soon and want to know if I'm voiding my long term recall eligibility.

Also, what all should I be looking at for signs of frame rot? I've mostly just been looking at the easy places, like inside the wheel wells.

What about getting a 2nd frame replacement

Not sure how it applies now that they are replacing 2nd gen frames for the early-mid model years but I know of one user who if I remember correct had an issue with frame rust and Toyota took a dump on him, taking up issue with his welded sliders. It was @ruggedT.

EDIT: he sold his Tacoma and bought a Ford F150

 

That's more or less what I figured the situation would be. I'll probably just double check that I'm all good now and go for it.

 

IMO if you properly recoat the frame on the outside at the welds, and inside at the heat effected areas, then keep up on your maintenance so it doesn't rust there you should be in the clear. There should be no way they can deny you if those parts of your frame are solid and it's rotted elsewhere.
