My Taco is so dumb it has no idea WTH a "Smartkey" is. I'm guessing it unlocks as you approach?

Mine doesn't have keyless or anything. I do not like that it doesn't have a keyhole on the passenger side. I can unlock the passenger's side with 2 unlock turns of the driver's lock. Sucks to go around to the driver's door then back around when I have to unload something in the passenger's side.

Oh, HutchJ, why doest thou strike at me so fiercely?

Seriously though I think they tried to keep the price point competitive at the expense of a few amenities. I'm willing to accept them for what I paid.
What that whole string of dialog was about though was that some folks on here want to complain about how different vehicles had options that the Taco doesn't and use that as a judgement of the worthiness of the truck. Apples to doughnuts and such.

I know. Everything I post is tongue in cheek anyways. And I have had a few WTF moments with my truck as well. I'll name them so I don't get labeled a fanboy:

1st one: No intermittent wipers. I didn't notice it until the first time it rained 2 weeks after buying the truck.

2nd: The no key access to passenger's door thing. Took me a few weeks to figure out the key would unlock the passenger's door with 2 turns of the driver's side keyhole. I was opening the door and hitting the unlock button up until then.

3rd: No passenger's vanity mirror--wife just found that last weekend.

4th: bed storage pockets aren't water tight. What am I supposed to store in there that I don't mind staying wet?

None of those change my opinion of the truck and I'm very happy with my purchase.

On the other side of the coin I found things that I didn't expect it to have after buying it. Keep in mind I bought the cheapo taco, $24,400 out the door.

1st: power heated mirrors. Did not expect this at all.

2nd: the tele tilt wheel. No jab at the above folks but the tele really surprised me

3rd: hill start assist--works really well with the MT

    4th: back up camera--mandated now?

5th: WTH do I need 8 cupholders in a 2 seat truck, lol?

6th: clutch start cancel: I have used this in the past to move a disabled vehicle.

To the OP, yes I would buy the same truck again in an instant...except I'd like a 2017 with the power rear window.

One year, 14,500 KMs of trouble free ownership and I still enjoy driving it.

If I was in the market for another new truck I don't think it would be a Tacoma. For what they cost I don't see the value verses cost compared to other trucks on the market just my opinion

I'm not gonna lie. This thread is surprising me with how many people wouldn't buy a Tacoma. People keep saying us naysayers are a vocal minority, but there are quite a few new faces chiming in with the same answers and complaints.

Toyota, take note--this isn't a good sign coming from some of your biggest advocates and fans. You have TWers, who used to run F150 drivers off the site with pitchforks, saying they wouldn't buy a new Tacoma and are considering GMs and Fords instead.
