You are probably correct about the pod. But a dirty workspace can be argued about quality work, or not.

Muscular I say, not chubby. The amber turn signals and reverse lights on the taillights can be seen from the moon, didn't need led rear lighting. ;)

Beast had the vvt-i 4.7l, A750F, factory Eaton rear LSD, factory leather, 10.5" stock ground clearance, rear quarter windows open, power rear slider, and a smooth drivetrain instead of the Taco vibration machine. :amen:

The Broken Differentials in 2nd Gens were pretty much isolated to 2005 Models and some 2006's, seems like a bad batch from a plant in Mexico plus Toyota redesigned the Gear Set around 2007 to beef them up. Hopefully they get on the ball just as quickly this time around and put a stop to the rear issues.

    ***UPDATE***
Truck is back and it seems fine. I was happy and it's seems perfect around town but maybe just maybe there is a noise that sounds like aggressive tires at around 100 to 120km/h but I could be imagining things. I haven't heard it before but I wouldn't of listened either until reading all this forums and responses. It is faint enough that just a talk radio program on volume 10 will drows out the noise. I guess it is the dreaded rear end howl it will get worse and I will deal with it at that time. At this point I'm fine with it.

    Good to hear.

My 2011 had howl from 105-85km/h when fully letting off the throttle. But before it did that, it howled at 120-130 just cruising, then that went away.

My 2017 does it sometimes from 95-85 when partially letting off the throttle. if i fully let off it makes no noise.

In the top photo note the marks on the carrier under the ring gear. Then note the scuff on the end of the pinion gear. I suspect a bearing failure on the pinion or a crush sleeve failure. Pinion moves in and crashes into carrier and bang. Only other time i've seen this was on a manual transmission and caused by excessive axle wrap but not on a toyota.

Glad they got you fixed up!
I've been back to the dealer twice for the rear end howl, and now I have a brand new transfer case AND transmission (manual). They've sworn from the get-go that the rear diff was quiet. The noise is still there BTW.

Shit man, this pic gave me a back spasm. I'm in Hali too, and was praying to the flying spaghetti monster that I wouldn't throw a belt or shear pin during that storm. The drift in my driveway was almost taller than my Taco!

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Did they give you any break in instructions? To be on the safe side, you might want to change the gear oil after 800 km

Just curious, what percentage of TW readers without a howling sound bothered to open that thread and vote in the poll?

They didn't. Nothing at all. Here's your keys and you're parked over there. lol. I will take it easy on her. I didn't touch my old truck until AFTER warranty as I don't trust them. Then I put Royal Purple except in transmission I put the WS. I wonder is the transmission as hard to change the oil on with these trucks? I haven't even done my own oil on this new one.

They didn't give me any break in instructions nor tell me to change out the fluid on my new rear diff either.
