Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
On stock shocks/springs I agree with this. I haven't had my swaybar on for over half the life of my truck now. It feels different but I wouldn't call it "unsafe." You adapt.

Appreciate your effort and knowledge here...Real numbers and such is what I like. With that being said I wouldn't want to know either. I will assume as long as Im not hitting exceeding 1/3 steering rotation at 55 I hope I will be ok...again like you said that is my risk though. Im in the same boat here...too slow of a day for Friday. Should of teleworked!

Good point man, I keep forgetting he doesn't have coils like some of us do. That being said I think the stock ones could be a little too scary for comfort with it off.

Very well said. Roll angle is simply a bit of math and you know your numbers. Obviously things change with weight and such but it takes a lot of work.

To split a hair, though, a sway bar isn't going to prevent a roll over on a slow crawl off camber. A sway bar prevents body roll (which changes center of gravity) during at-speed changes in direction.

Yes that's exactly right. I only references the off camber moment I experienced because that's the harshest angle I've ever had the truck. Never have I been anywhere NEAR that angle while in motion. Otherwise I'd have the stains in the drivers seat to prove it!

Sorry for helping derail your thread, OP.

Thanks for the science, @ItalynStylion. Lots of good information there.

You can't. The design doesn't allow for it.

Well... sorry to break it to you but as much more articulation you can get without a sway bar, it is used for racing. Trophy trucks run them off road in the front and the rear. IFS front, 4-linked rear.

Also, do we really need them in our trucks, it's debatable. For example, look at the smaller version of our truck. The Hilux. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoHbn8-ROiQ

I don't have one on my Tacoma and don't feel like it needs it with oversized shocks and added width from long travel that seem to help control body sway. On my pop's off road race truck he has one on the rear and it could definitely use a front one to avoid two wheeling corners.

Yup. It would require replacing the entire sway bar with a different one, with the disconnects build in. It's too bad. I'd like to have the option.

Sway bar removed. 700 lb. coils. It rolls in the turns. If you are not comfortable with that, leave it on.

So while everyone is off topic I have a 2017 4x2 TRD Off Road AT w/ the tow package and was curious if adding sway bars would help. I do plan on towing a U-Haul trailer soon which will be around 2500lbs or more. I am new to trucks and new to towing. Great combo I know o_O

You should be fine I've towed roughly 5000 lb. and I don't have a sway bar up front. That's not in town towing I'm talking 200+ miles.

hahaha I took my sway bar off with a mid travel set up and obviously with my long travel set up. If you're replacing with quality coilovers you're not going to notice a difference in safety. I feel more body roll on my families stock lexus suv than either of my trucks

Yeah I drove 1500 mile road trips with no sway bar as well as plenty of towing, if you're in california I have spare swaybar taking up space in my garage. You can have it for free
