I did a thing just now...

Wanted to see if it would work, and it did!

So I was reading the manual for my CB, I know men don't do this shit regularly lol, and noticed it said Cobra sells a cig adapter plug for them for "temporary use". Take it upon myself to dig through a box of old cables and wiring (I'm an electro nerd of sorts) and find an unused 12v dual cig plug adapter with 2 USB ports on it. Cheaply made I'm sure, but it was gift.
Anywho, I 'disassemble' it and take apart the part I need. The cig plug end. I figure out which is the center pin for power and which wire is the ground. Easy. Connect the CB's power cables with a couple in-line splices.
Out to the truck I go! Plug in the antenna cable, plug in the new found CB power plug into the second cig hole, turn the key to on. Turn on the power to the CB, turn up squelch and volume, and surf the 40 channels.

Silence....nothing at all! Maybe I'm just too far away from any talking truckers to hear? (about 5 miles, probably less, from I64)

Reckon it's time for a drive to see if my hillbilly CB rig job works!

CB use is really down from the "Smokey and the Bandit" days. Drive towards a truck stop and start telling everyone you're a Democrat.....You'll get someone to "talk" to you then!

Sounds like I should hide in the tall grass if I do that haha!

There wasn't static on any channel. Normal?

    Go left young man.....(counter clockwise)

Go counter clockwise until you get static.....then back clockwise until you get no static, but no further. That should get you in the ballpark.

Okay, I did that last night. Squelch all left, static with "busy" on the screen. Turn right, about one tenth the knobs' radius, and then silence with no 'busy' on the screen.

Couldn't raise a signal even by the Flying J truck stop at the I64 exit

Correct procedure on squelch. There are times when the truckers aren't on the radio much. But not that often. Have you set the SWR yet? Also, do NOT operate the radio without antenna connected AND without mic connected. Not good on 'em at all.

Not sure what it is with yooz gize an yer radidios....
