I know they are two different things, that's why I posted the 0-60 times. 0-60 and 60ft. times are your "off the line" metrics. And the post I quoted was about a Prius beating a 3rd gen, not a 2nd gen Tacoma.

My point is, owners aren't truly "complaining". They desire more power, but they're still buying Tacomas by the thousands. If you ask an owner if they want more power, of course they will say yes. But if you asked them how much hp/tq. they wanted, they would probably respond with the numbers it currently has.

Of course you can drive how you want. But if people are averaging 18-21 mpg and you're getting 16, stop mashing the gas pedal. If you don't want to stop mashing the gas pedal, stop complaining about the mpg. lol

I'm not debating the fact that you want more power out of your Tacoma. What I am debating is all the people who say the truck is "under powered". It's not "under powered", it just doesn't have as much as SOME owners would like. There might be 10,000 2016 Tacoma owners that think it's under powered, but then there's 180,000 that think it's fine.

I seem to be get between 22 to 19 on NH state roads and I drive fairly heavy footed. I do not think the truck is a dog, but certainly not quick or that sporty. I drives exactly how I expected it to and so far has met my expectations. Overall I am pleased with the power for a small/mid sized truck. I will be doing a bit of towing for hay this spring/summer, so we will see how it does. Sounds like a lot folks here need a different vehicle or did not research test drive enough before purchasing.

I agree. I think a lot of people buy the Tacoma based on looks, reliability, or resale value. You can't have EVERYTHING in a vehicle, not for a starting price of under $25k anyway.

I agree most people probably would repond with the current numbers being adequate but think they would much prefer those numbers much lower in the RPM range.

The transmission gear search on the highway - shifting down, shifting up is annoying. I hate having to put my foot in it to stop it.

I think the new Tacoma has tons of power. It's just not that usable. All the extra power over the gen 2 comes in past 5500 rpm. Had it been in the lower band it would have been more useable and I would be driving a 2016.
