Hopefully, that will remove your CEL. I never got one and Gadget said that the y pipe should not be the cause of one since the rear O2 sensors never monitored the rear cats.

Are you manual transmission or auto? Any notice in low end torque when in 5th and 6th gears?

My transmission is auto and I did not notice a lot of low end torque improvement. If you have a MT then a light weight flywheel will give you the best bang for the buck in low end torque. You will save 15-20 pounds right off the crank which makes a big difference. Unfortunately, I do not have that option.

Yeah +1 for lightweight flywheel. A better clutch wouldnt hurt either so you could actually rev the engine up before letting the clutch out and not expect it to slip a bunch

I've been thinking of the Y-pipe with the AFE mid side exit exhaust for quite some time. I mainly want to add some low end torque to 5th gear on my Taco (auto transmission), plus free up the exhaust restriction and see better hp. The mid side exit will also allow me to fit a full 33" spare under the rear.

Best mod you could do for more power and potentially more MPGs would be a regear. Gears will always get you more power, but there has been some talk that the diffs on these trucks have been failing due to tolerances on the spider gear being lax at best. Replace it with an aftermarket gear set of higher quality, and there wont be as much play between the gears and therefore not as much parasitic loss in the linkage between the two. Just a theory, but some have posted better MPG after regear and more power.

Magnaflow catback comes in today. URD Y-pipe on Friday... Goes under the knife Friday afternoon, to get everything welded up.
Will report back with video clip for those that are curious, and give thoughts, opinions, issues, etc. Already have the aFe intake w/ scoop.

Hoping since I'm having all the exhaust done at once, I can keep the y-pipe in place (off the cross member), bolt to down pipe, and weld muffler/pipe rod supports in place for added strength/lift; since now two members are reporting intial clearance issues when installing.

I wouldnt say there are clearance issues with the pipe so much as a high propensity for user error during install. Use a floor jack to lift the Y pipe by the section where both pipes converge into one and you will be fine.

Re-gearing doesn't add power, it just increases torque at the wheel.

The rest I agree with. I think a set of manual gears in an auto would help with some of the shift issues and with towing.

Great.... y-pipe didn't ship till today, means I wont get it till Saturday now, which means all the exhaust shops will be closed until Monday and I'll just be sitting there staring at my exhaust components all weekend. FML #firstworldproblems

Great info.. was there a reason you chose the AFE intake over the TRD CAI?

There were a few! 1.) The AFE unit had the option for the 'ram air' dynamic air scoop which I figured would be about the only way any intake could provide a real performance increase
2.) The AFE has a resonator built into it which they say quiets noise as well as smoothes the flow of air for better performance again. Regardless, its much quieter than other CAIs I've had experience with (K&N for 16' taco 3.5L looking at youo_O) which I appreciate but still gives it a better rumble
    and finally,
3.) Personally I like the design of the AFE unit the best. It is clearly designed for the best performance not only because of what I already mentioned, but the intake pipe reduces from a huge 6"ishx9"ish filter and opening down to a ~3" pipe where the MAF sensor and throttle body are, which means that the air flow is huge and right after it enters the intake it is speeding up by flowing through a progressively smaller pipe. The plastic they chose also feels very durable and is made to be a perfect match for our '3.5L Toyota' valve cover plastic piece which I liked very much from the first picture of it I saw. With the product installed it looks like it could be an OEM part, and I mean that in the best possible way. It also included a silicone throttle body coupling piece and intake to airbox seal/coupler which are top notch extras if you ask me.

Thank you for the information! Sounds like a sound decision. Did you go with the GT Pro GUARD 7 or the Pro 5r? I'm not sure what the difference is. I don't have a scoop so I'm assuming the Momentum GT Power Package doesn't make sense for my Off Road

I believe the scoop pulls from behind the grille, not the hood. the trd sport hoodscoop is just an ornament.
