Buying a reciprocating saw, opinion?

So I've come across many situations where a reciprocating saw would be hand (aside from just the truck!). I was thinking of these two models, anyone got any info and/or feedback? The smaller RIDGID would be nice however I'm worried if it has the juice to cut through small metals (bolts, nails etc) whereas its small enough to get in alot of places the larger one can't. Opinions?

Definitely the DeWalt.

 

I use a Ryobi one for all the grilles I do and it works flawlessly, plus its waaayyy cheap. Just purchase a dewalt blade and you are set

 

I own the complete suite of DeWalt - at least it sure looks that way. lol! One thing I can say, none of their tools ever let me down.

 

how come you are only considering two brands? I would vote for Milwaukee Sawzall. Corded or Cordless. Great reputation, plenty of power, quick change blade option... and I think they are still American.

I have a DeWalt and it works great. On the other hand Ridgid has a lifetime warranty on their tools.

a milwaukee will last the longest. dewalt feel cheap and burn out if you use it too long continously (burned out 2 now i have 2 milwaukee's - check out the "hatchet" awesome lil recip saw for tight spaces but still powerful)

Milwaukee corded reciprocating saws are the best, cut up a 8x12 doug fir beam with mine. The dewalt my buddy was using started to smoke and then the trigger failed, the milwaukee made many cuts with no problems.

dewalt forsure I bought one to do a house reno and it took a beating for 5 months cut through metal plaster plastic wood everything you can imagine when you gut a 55 yr old house and it never quit and I treat my power tools like shit too

 

Yup funny thing is that the dewalt was less than a year old and my milwaukee has got to be pushing 5 years old, never had a single problem with it after all of the abuse we've put it through.

I beat the crap out of my Milwaukee and it takes it like a champ.

Quick change blade (Tiger Paw?) and i think its 12 amps.

Haven't used it in a while.

 

I bought a Dewalt 3 days ago. Tooless blade changing. Cuts 4 different directions. 3 year warranty. I like yellow.

 

Dewalt -always.

 

I've gotta Milwaukee and its solid as hell...plenty strong to burn through whatever for the most part
