Damn i hope the weather holds. headed to Missoula this weekend for Devins last audition. Marc's IG photo got me looking at all the roads again. Wanted to take the Honda.

You've had an exhaust leak for years. Mike and I pointed it out in Seattle in 2013.

Back then obvious couldn't afford to fix it.

Now though..big boy job..should be able too.

And not my truck. I don't keep track of all the shit wrong with it the fact that 3 friends 2 of which see you semi regularly are saying this stuff is a bit of a flag in itself..

 

I hear a list of issues that are all repairable and see a man that intends to take care of it when he runs out of paper to write it on.

 

The locker isn't a real maintenance issue. Of course I'd happily loan you money if you were in a bind for real issues like one of your OMEs going fully deflated. Gotta keep up on the running gear or you'll soon find out what it's like to be a jeep guy and stay home from a trip.

Also in the current spirit of this thread I'm doing an oil change, retorque, and lube right now.

 

Based on all of these silly convo's, I can see that it is definitely time for a little trip planning.

 

working on it this week to find out my summer plans.

And sorta fall plans. Gotta wait and see what Devin does for school. She is hopeful for something in LA but they are so expensive not sure what will happen. If she gets in i'll be leaving in the fall to join her around Sept/Oct if i work at Tippet or spray Weeds no matter what.

But as of now. I'll be in the area for the summer again. Not sure who will be my employer. Tippet would be nice. But i can't work on my truck while im up there in the evenings. And i loose a lot of camping time. Weed spraying is looking good unless Tippet pays me more then last year.

Out of curiosity, I did a little research on the logistics of making one leg of an Alaska/Prudhoe Bay trip by ferry. Yes, I said ferry.

An Alaska vehicle ferry leaves from Bellingham Wa every Friday evening. It takes three days to get to Haines, AK. Cost is ~1600$. Kind of expensive but it would save about 600$ in fuel, some wear and tear and a couple of travel days.

This would cross off several items on my bucket list. Have always wanted to do the inside passage but not on a huge "cruise line" ship. It is even possible to make stops in Ketchikan and Juneau.

The ferry ends at Haines. Would then drive to Skagway and then on to the Yukon Territory and Whitehorse on the Alcan Highway.

So what, this would be just an Alcan highway trip then? is it 1600 for a round trip ticket?

 

Oh no. That is one way only.

This would simply be an alternative route to or from Whitehorse.

Think of it as a loop route from say, Spokane to Whitehorse with an extension from Whitehorse to Fairbanks and then to Prudhoe Bay/North Slope or Anchorage or where ever.

 

So you think ferry up there. Drive in to AK up to prudoe...then what..down to anchorage(which im not sure is worth it unless we go to Palmer area or to my families cabin at the Kenai) then drive through BC the whole way back?

Wow. Lot of miles Idk if thats do able in two weeks. Certainly not a lot of offroading really.

Yeah, more than likely need 3 weeks for this. Lots of miles regardless. Hard to say how much will be on pavement. Is the alcan highway entirely paved now? I am betting that fairbanks to the north slope is mostly not.
